Program headlights to stay on in Auto-mode
Is there something the dealer can do to program my car (a 2012 Focus SE Hatchback) so that when "AUTO" is selected for headlights, it just turns them on anytime of the day and not just at night. I'm finding that it would be nice, so that way the lights are on all the time, and then turn off when the car is turned off, etc.

It already does do exactly what you describe... if it gets dark enough out.

I'm not sure about the precise light threshold but if you're driving on a really cloudy day or drive thru a tunnel, they'll turn on.

OP wants them on all the time.


OP, have your dealer enabled DRLs. The DRLs on this car are the full headlights (at 95% power or something), front amber lights, and tail lights.

So, full headlights on at all times the car is running.

You could just cover the light sensor dome on your dash, the car will always think its night...

it would be just like my tundra except with the focus you'd have to turn the fog lamps on each time (which is preferable). tape would do the trick.

Yeah, just cover the sensor. The sensor will think it is night all the time.

Thats how my old car was wired because the sensor was broken, I think they just put the 2 wires together heh. For some reason they would shut off if you pulled the emergency brake though.
