Exclamation a/z plan document fee upcharge

so I have been doing a ton a research on the a/z plan. I am about to purchase a 2013 titanium hatchback through my grandpas ford discount (I would use the z plan I believe) and have came across a ton of confusion about being charge a dealer document fee. Has anybody recently purchased a new car from ford through the a/z plan and noticed if they were charged more than a $75 fee? Because apparently that is the maximum the can charge. I Will copy and paste what I found on fordfusionclub.com. The guy on there seems like a genius! Let me know if this has happened or if this is true.

here is the link to the page, I highly suggest you read it!

http://www.fordfusionclub.com/showthread.php?t=341841

Again, all Dealer added fees and charges (including "Destination" and/or "Delivery" charges) are already included in the X-Plan Price that is located at the bottom of the Factory Invoice Sheet, except for the $75 maximum "Documentation Fee".

And specifically concerning "Destination Fees" on A/Z-Plan: You still pay "Destination" on AZ-Plan purchase. But again, the "Destination Fee" is already included in the A/Z-Plan Price that is listed at the bottom of the Factory Invoice Sheet. So there should be no "Destination Fee" listed as a separate charge on the Purchase Contract.

And to make it easier to find, I will copy and paste below (from Reply #1) the basic structure of what the charges on a Purchase Contract should look like:

So when all is said and done, your Purchase Contract should look something like this:

The Initial X-Plan Price (it is listed on the Invoice, in a box labeled "X-Plan Price", which the Dealer is required to show you)
- Your Trade-in vehicles value (if you have a Trade-in)
= Subtotal
+ Any Dealer installed options or Extended Service Plan (agreed upon by you)
= Subtotal
+ State and Local Sales Taxes
= Subtotal
- Any Incentives and Rebates you qualify for
= Subtotal
+ a $75 maximum "Documentation Fee"
= Subtotal
+ Title and Registration
= Your Final X-Plan Price

Bottom line: If there are any other Fees or Charges listed on your Purchase Contract other than the ones in the example above, it is likely that you were overcharged

Chambo, I've been following your previous post as well. I think another great option if you have access, is to print off any documentation about the rules of the a/x/z plan (which is what I may do just in case) and bring those with you so you can "reference" them in front of the dealer. Either way the info of the fusionforum was great, too. I just made an account over there seeing as I want to get the new Fusion. Going back into the dealer Friday

Oh and p.s. I'm originally from Michigan too, Livonia to be exact! So not horribly far from you!

Also with the A or Z plan you most likely won't qualify for any other rebates or discounts. I also purchased mine in 2011 before any rebates were out though.

My breakdown.
Sticker price was $23,760

$2,000 down
$2,600 trade in
$1,235.90 in sales tax
$1,240 for the Extended Service Plan
$291.50 filing fee
$75.00 fee to the dealership (document administative fee)

Financed $19548.60

The difference is what was taken off with the A plan.

Actually with A/Z plan you qualify for most publicly available incentives excluding a few such as a college grad rebate and the few that specifically state they are not eligible for either A or Z plan customers, you just bought early so there were no rebates.

Ditto. Good point suss. I remember reading over this too, and my Dad reminded me. (Just commenting on this stuff so I don't forget it when I go into the dealer this week haha )

those new fusions are, as Borat would say, "Very Niceee"...
but yeah I have been reading all over the internet about people being charged these "extra fees" even when they use the ford discount.

speaking to Oxy-I-genIII, that $291.50 filing fee I believe is what my post is talking about. Did you purchase it with the a/z plan? because I am pretty sure they are not allowed to charge you that "filing fee". this has been why I've researched it. if I am correct, you would have saved that $291.50 because they are not allowed to charge you a fee like that.

Also, shout out to Livonia! I grew up in Redford, so I am pretty familiar with Livonia. FYI, the winters are still horrible lol

and yeah with every ford discount plan you can take advantage of any discounts. So I might be waiting til around September to purchase my focus in hopes of increased discounts due to the roll out of the 2014s.

I believe the filing fee is the same for either plans or those who don't use any discount plan. The only difference in fees is the filing and destination charges I think. If someone who didnt use an A/Z plan could post their contract prices that'd be great.

And the only thing I'll do next time that I should have done when buying this car is to wait til their are rebates available to add on top of the discount. I needed a new car and could t wait. Haha.
