New here...

Hello everyone.
I'm new to Focus Fanatics. I purchased my 2002 Focus SE wagon from my girlfriend's Aunt about 8 months ago. This is my first car EVER. I'm excited to modify and maintain it. I am very much a DIYer. In it is a 2.0 Zetec. I've repaired the a/c (it had an old blower motor resistor), replaced the DPFE sensor (due to failed emissions test), installed a new Pioneer deck, and replaced the stock speakers (again with some Pioneer equipment). I think I may be ready to get my hands even dirtier now. Anyone have a few suggestions on where I could start? Everything is pretty much stock. Keep in mind I am a beginner when it comes to this. I know I would like to replace the headlight and taillight assemblies, possibly clean my fuel injectors (they're really gunked up), and improve the air intake. I'm stoked to be a Focus owner and join the community. Thank you for your input.

the first things I would do would be to really clean everything on the car, in the car and underhood of the car, especially all the seams. You would be surprised at how different the car looks when detailed like this.

since this is your first car, I would not get crazy with the items you do to it. Lowering the car with lowering springs and a nice set of wheels is where i would start after cleaning it really good. From there, you should just enjoy it and its new stereo for a while until you get familiar with as much as you can about the car :)

welcome noob, post some pics of the car as it is now so we know what you are starting with and we can see how the car progresses

Leave the engine alone - the car is always going to be slow, unless you dump about 8K into it. Your call, but I can't say it's worth it.

Upgrade your suspension, buy some new wheels and tires when your current tires wear out, and call it a day.

Welcome! I would recommend a good detailing inside/out. A full multi-point/tune-up. You may even want to get your favourite garage to clean the fuel injectors and throttle body for you. Of course, all of this is dependant on your budget. In short, a properly running engine is the core of any good car.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. And thank you GlassMaker for fixing my photo so it's visible. I actually just gave her a good detail inside and out yesterday, so it's funny you mention it. I used Turtle Wax (Carnuaba) on her. I planned on making an appointment before the end of June to get the fuel injectors cleaned, they (GoodYear) recommended it when I had to have the DPFE and hoses replaced (due to failed emissions test). I also plan on getting some new rear tires soon as well, any recommendations for brand? I need a good value, the previous owner took her to Les Schawb. Thanks again guys.

New rears on a FWD?

If possible, hold out and buy a new set of four. You won't find many of us who recommend mixing tread patterns, especially when you can get a decent set of tires in your size for ~400.

I'm a fan of the General Altimax series. RTs would be just fine for you, though I have nothing but good things to say about the HPs.
