Took my 2012 Fofo to Willow Springs Extreme Speed Track event

I took my 2012 Fofo to the Extreme Speed, Horsethief Mile event at Willow Springs on Saturday the 18th. It was a lot of fun, and worth every penny.

With the stock, non sport suspension, (except for a Steeda sway bar), the 5 speed S did well, finishing 11th of 15 cars.

The car accelerates great, and I got a sweet scratch on the straightaway every lap, going from 2nd to 3rd gear. On the stock 195/65-15s the car pushed a lot in the turns, and tore up the front tires pretty good. I wondered how the disc/ drum brake combo would hold up, and it worked very well, even after a 20 minute session.

I'm looking forward to going back as I modify the car, to improve times and finishes.

Thats awesome. We should get something going. I know a few peeps that go there for drift events and it could be a lot of fun even if just to watch!

Hey where is that track exactly? I would be willing to go! Sounds like a lot of fun, but 11th place out of 15 with everything stock is pretty good.

The new focus handles pretty darn good. I had svt suspension and a 12 sedan was keeping up super easily. most likely I would of had trouble keeping up with him I suspect.

Willow Springs is on the north side of Rosamond Bl. about 5 miles west of the 14 freeway, just north of Lancaster. There are several tracks at the complex. The Horsethief mile track is like a twisty uphill/ downhill canyon road built on a hillside.

I didn't say anything about going, because I wasn't sure what to expect. Joel of Extreme Speed told me there he wished he would see more Focuses at their events. I didn't see another Ford at the Horsethief mile track.

I almost went home after the the second run because I was sure I was the slowest car there, but I was actually 14th of 16 cars. A session with an Extremespeed instructor gave me some very helpful pointers and after the third run I was 11th of 15.

It is a lot of fun. It may be a while, but when I go again, I'll put it up on the board.
