Strange banging sounds
I have a 2012 Focus SEL and twice now I have had loud banging sounds, like someone was banging the car with a big stick. The car isn't even on. When I
start the car the banging stops. Can anybod guess what is causing this?

THis is a really strange phenomenon.
My first guess is someone is messing with your head.
Second is an animal inside the engine compartment.

Banging noise
No kids missing..No mental illness that I am aware of. The first time it happened I had just put groceries in the trunk. Got in the car and it started, scared the hell out of me. I thought someone was hitting the car with their hand. I jumped out, nothing. Open the trunk thinking a flock of seagulls had flown in there. Nothing. Started the car and it stopped. This morning it happened when I stopped at the 7-11. Called the dealership and they think I'm
crazy..E-mailed Ford but no response yet.

My mother in law rescued a cat that had been in the wheel well liner of an 18 wheeler for who knows how many miles! Who knows. If the car is off, its not your car!

it could be something like the trunk latch not operating correctly, broken internals clicking then being amplified by the sheet metal like a speaker. try to pin point when it happens and what you need to do to make it happen, then take it to the dealer and work with the tech to make it happen. If he does not hear it your not going to get anything done. good luck
