Another idle thread!!

Hi, i have recently bought a 07 focus 1.8 petrol the ffv one. The car runs fine except first thing in a morning or after its been sat for ages, when i turn the key the engine fires up then drops to 500 rpm and will stall unless i catch it with the gas (sometimes it will be fine) and it will jump to 1200 rpm and then 8-900 once its up to temperature as it should, although the needle wobbles slightly. is this normal?? It drives and sounds as it should apart from this any help appreciated.
