1/8th mile time tonight

Well I went to the track tonight. Some of you know I've been having tons of traction issues with the kumho ecsta supra 712 tires (17x7), so I decided to put my 15x6's on the front since they're more of a street tread. The tires are like.. hmm.. how do i put it nicely.. the best douglas's you can buy from walmart, supposedly the "high performance" ones. The track we go to, natural bridge dragway, is treated about once every 3 months, so the only chance of traction that you have is when the big dogs (7.00 et and under) come out and leave rubber at the line.

previously with a 55 shot (wet) I ran a 10.189 at 73.39mph with a 2.41 60ft time. this may sound terrible when I can do this and maybe better all motor (on a better track), but that's also spinning hardcore WELL into 3rd gear. I believe the spinning is due to the kumho's.

The last run of the night was against a wrx sti. Right before our race, we got lucky and 2 cars that are in the 6's ran, so there was plenty of rubber at the line. I did a moving burnout for about 2 seconds then lined up. here are the times with a .500 dial-in

wrx focus
.503 reaction .929 (i know i know)
2.216 60ft 2.319
6.564 330ft 6.420
71.54 mph 71.43
9.908 660ft 9.839
winner

Yeah, the wrx driver didn't actually launch it.. If so, he would have had about a 1.8-1.9 60ft. I actually launched decently this time, only spinning for a short short distance in 1st, but when I hit second, I forgot to feather the gas and spun pretty hard. All in all, it's over a .3 improvement over the previous times and I KNOW there is another .5 second or more there waiting on me.

Anyone else have massive traction issues in their zetec's? I'm thinking about upgrading my differential, clutch, and getting some drag radials, so that should help out also. Anyway, just thought I'd share my night.

Peace

Was this on the bottle? That's a good time. I'd say just pick up a set of DR's. That should help a lot.
You still on the stock cams?

Yeah, this was with a 55 shot and on stock cams. Should be getting a set of crower stage 2's in sometime this coming week. Hopefully once they are put in and I get some MSD ignition things (or a SCT with a nitrous setting), I'll be able to throw around a 100 shot on it and see what happens. Then when tax refunds come back, time for bottom end goodies so I can throw more juice to it

bfgoodrich drag radials are very good. They are expensive, around 150 a tire but if you race alot they are worth it. I get very little or no spin when I launch with mine and am running 9.9's in the 1/8th with 2.0 60 ft. and that is down from high 2's before the new tires. I have a spec stage V clutch in my garage waiting to go in and 4.06 gears on the way. I am going to get a new flywheel and torson limited slip too. I will post how they all do when I get them all in. It may be a while though
