do you have a picture of your srt4? im interested in a very very light tint. i love the 6% on the head lights that some one else posted. and the vw on the first or second page.
im not sure if one coat of the nightshade would look right

i am installing my laminx on my SGM next week. I already halfway attempted to get the pre-cuts on myself, but as others have stated it was indeed a disaster. However the look of them was fantastic, I thought at least.

The vinyl I've worked with so far is very sensitive to temperature. It seems to be MUCH harder to install when the ambient temperature is cool. In order for the vinyl to stretch and stick well, you need to have the vinyl at least warm, but in a cool environment that's difficult to do because it cools down instantly if warmed with a heat gun or hairdryer. I'm waiting for warmer weather before I put vinyl on my chrome belt-line trim.

I think a good installation environment would be an ambient temperature above 80F and a couple of friends to wrangle an over-sized piece of vinyl while I focused my attention on the squeegee. Not using pre-cut vinyl would eliminate having to remove and realign for fit. My pre-cut Lamin-X was 1/8 to 1/4 too big and required trimming. So the pre-cut doesn't mean you don't have to trim the vinyl. Trimming the Vinyl is the least of your worries. The Lamin-X I used on my headlights cut very easily. You only had to score the vinyl (not cut all the way through) to get a clean line.

I've even thought removing the item being tinted would be worth the time. That would allow you to stick the vinyl around the edge a little better before trimming with an exacto knife. But, a big challenge to removing a headlight or taillight to put vinyl on would be keeping it from moving around during installation. You'd need to fix it to something for have someone dedicated to holding it.

While the darker tails look good on the other posts in this thread, I'd be interested in something like the tails on the GTI. Would this be 1 coat of nightshades?

just an update.

niteshades is done.

i highly recommend just going for it. forget lamin-x unless your getting it profesionally installed. niteshades is really simple and looks amazing.]

the following is pics after clear.its still wet but looks the same wet/dry

good picture showing the reflectors lighting up with the flash of my camera

they were wet sanded and polished after this so allot of the imperfections you see are gone.

also the video i referenced for this.

part 1:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSKA0ElKg1Q
part 2:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8-hZ...eature=related

i will post installed pics tomorow

Nice work guys!

I just checked with a professional and it'd be $130 shipped for me so I am planning on doing this myself once I get a full weekend to do so.

I also have to find the tint, or buy it online.

What do you guys suggest on where to buy Nightshade?

I was also curious if any of you have done the headlights?

If I were to do my headlights, I think I would do just one coat, two tops.
