hood scoop
so...i have no knowledge whatsoever in the field of metal fabrication. or fabrication of anything for that matter. my question is. how hard would it be for me to make a little hood scoop for my car. just something small, to feed a little extra cold air to my what soon will be (hopefully) SRI?

i was thinking about that. just getting one of those smaller ones they sell and cutting a small hole in the hood. how would i attach the scoop? just screw it to the hood? maybe use some bondo to cover the holes? then eventually paint it?

If I were you I would just buy the ram air hood and have it painted to the color of your car, if you buy one of those cheap ass scoops and cut your hood and mess it up your gonna be pissed and wish you would have done it right in the first place. Never half ass the work you put into your ride, because it the end it cost you more to fix it.

any idea what one of those hoods would cost me? and where i could look to get one? cheapest find would be my preference. cheapest good quality. even so if i went the route i was talking about above. i have a guy i know who would be able to possibly fix my screw ups. he does body work on cars. so i have a back up plan with that if it fails lol. just take it to him. however to save me the trouble of cutting on my car (again) i would be willing to just buy and install a hood made for that. if i could find one for next to nothing.

After doing some research, I apologize but these hoods just are not as common as the louevered for the early year focus's, the one I could find we're generally carbon fiber and cost a pretty penny. If you have a guy that can do some body work I would probably go with your idea and see how it goes, best of luck

you dont need to drill any holes to attach the scoop. they come with double sided tape already on them. That is the best way for you to attach the scoop.

ok so i would just need to cut a hole in my hood? then stick the scoop over the hood? how trustworthy is that tape that its not going let go of the scoop? lol
