How much closer does the steering wheel sit than the factory? Looks like about 3 or 4 inches closer.

I'm guessing about an inch or so actually. Keep in mind yes the steering wheel hub is there, but that's basically in place of the huge airbag. Take a look at it from the side and you will see there is a bit of space between that area. The quick release add's a bit of space though. And to those who are thinking of putting an aftermarket wheel on, there are pro's and con's. But feeling the difference between this wheel ( and many others) is like night and day to the stock wheel. Feel's sooo much better.
