There isn't going to be a ground on a speaker wire harness.

It is AC voltage and the terminals are + and - AC.

I don't know which is which, though, but as long as you connect the little tab on the new speakers to the same side of the connector at all four locations, you should be fine.

+1 on this. When I replaced mine, I cut the old cones out and used the stock rings of the speakers to mount them. Soldered the new speakers to the stock plugs and re-used the stock wiring. I think this is the best way to do it and avoid hassle.

I'm not really sure the question.
It sounds like you just need help connecting your amp to the speakers?
Most people splice into a harness that comes out of the Headunit.

If you have pictures of what you're trying to do, that may also help.

Thanks

They are 6.5" both front and rear. I replaced mine with the Infinity Reference 6502ix. This thread was a big help.

Cool, thanks for the reply.

I have a new pair of JL Audio C3-650 speakers that I was meaning to put on my 2009 Focus but traded it in before I got a chance to install them.
Wonder how much better they are than the stock ones?

My stock ones were paper and couldn't handle anything. My Infiniti speakers are waaaay better. That said the Infinitis are designed to be used with the stock amp. If you use less efficient speakers you will want an aftermarket amp to run them. I will probably go to an aftermarket 5 channel amp and small sub at some point.

Not sure exactly what you are having a problem with either.

If you can't run the need to wire through the doors, I think you can either mount the crossovers inside the car and splice into the existing wiring or do this:
