Focus vs 330, 535

Had an 06 330 and an 08 535. Now in 2011 Mercedes E350. Compared to all three, the Focus wins hands down. Considering total package, including handling, fuel efficiency, cost to own, technology, comfort, looks, and yes, supporting the home team, the Focus is the best all-rounder. You can stretch the Focus' legs while driving; the BMWs are so overpowered, it's hard to wring them out without risking a speeding ticket. In this economy, the Focus comes to the rescue for those of us who demand higher quality at a reasonable price.

I bought my Focus as a commuter car (75 miles round trip each day), and keep my E92 M3 in the garage during the work week. The Focus handles extremely well (I have a Ti w/ handling package), but being a gas sipper it is of course underpowered to my liking. That said, as a commuter car it is great... a hoot to take corners in as well. The M3 brings a much, much wider grin to my face... until I look at the gas gauge. As I tell my wife, the M3 and Focus, "naughty and mostly nice".

thread revival... I started this originally, thank you for all your input
so just got my SE sport hatch w DCT ("traded" -well it was a lease- my 2011 VW CC manual) and out of many ways to describe all I can say is yeah baby!
my other car is a 11 BMW 328xi hence the thread.. the focus really drives so good to be able to compare quite favorably! setting aside price differences, market segment, AWD vs FWD and all inherent variances between, the focus drive-dynamics wise is really solid and it shows on the road... hugs the road, real good steering weight-feedback, secure brake feel.. the car and driver review of "almost BMW like feel" is kind of how I see it too...

Ford has done pretty well when you look down at the steering wheel and almost expect a BMW badge instead of the Ford badge!

I bought the Focus for my wife. My daily driver for the last 8 years has been a 2001 325Ci with the Sport Package and a 5 speed. The Focus is no BMW, but it's pretty damned good.

I don't own a 3 series, but my father has a 2010 328i convertible and I drove a 2006 325i shortly before picking up the Focus. It's a pretty damn similar feel, to be honest...

If any of you are comparing a Ford Focus to a BMW, you're out of your mind and loosing your marbles. I own a 2008 BMW 335i Coupe and I own a 2012 Focus Titanium Hatchback ( fully loaded ) and let me tell you, THERE IS NO COMPARISON. The BMW is by far a superior car in every way, shape and form. IT IS THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE.

With that being said, I purchased my Focus Titanium to be my commuter car. It's sport, great on gas, and suits it purpose. I can't come close to driving my Focus like my BMW. I'd wind up in a ditch ! But for what it's worth, this is the first American made car I've purchased in 16 years, and I can say that Ford got it right with the Focus. It's a great compact car and shows that America can do it right if they want.

By the way, I like my Focus, but I love my Beemer.

FAIL. BMW owners and their claims as the ultimate driving machine. LOL. I'll give you that any M car has crazy good numbers anyway you look at it untill you get to the MSRP. Unless you get an M car any new BMW has so many electronics that a monkey with half a brain could drive it. An ultimate driving machine should reward a good driver not limit them. My friend has a 2011 335 I've been in it not impressed at all. He can't even do a burnout with out finding a way to trick the computer. For the price of your 335 I'll take a new boss to spank you and a focus to save gas. And prob still have some money left over.
