Looks like they got the color nailed; I'm 90-95% happy with the end result, however I'm a special case (i.e. super anal). Since I've spent some time in the automotive reconditioning world, I have a bit of a trained eye for imperfections and tell-tale signs of bodywork/paintwork, but to the untrained eye, it's a winner. I just have a little de-nibbing to take care of, and perhaps a couple spots to polish.

This is the side of the car that was hit, too.

I know what you mean about being picky. I worked auto body for a while and I know how to look for imperfections. When my (ex) candy blue was damaged in a hail storm my shop fixed it but I went around it and pointed out all the places where they missed buffing etc. and had them fix it. They did a great job and I couldn't tell it was repaired after the few spots were corrected. I see you painted your roof strip and windshield side strips. Looks good. I did the top strips but hadn't decided on doing the windshield side strips. Think I will now. There's also a chrome window pillar set for the sides I may get. Can't help it, I like chrome!
Edit: I looked at your other post, seems the strips are still black after all, just the lighting in this photo..... Still like it! (maybe not so skilled at inspecting after all???) LOL!

Well, I ended up sending the car back to the bodyshop to fix the rear door again - there's a significant part of the mid-door crease missing because the deer basically pancaked my door and crossed 3 different bodylines.

They're currently trying to PDR it, but I fear they will end up having to totally replace the door skin.

The door, rear quarter, and bumper cover were all painted, actually.

I stopped by the bodyshop tonight to check progress, which was little to none, really. They fixed a small crease in the bumper cover, however, I found two small chips that had been hastily touched up on the bottom trailing edge of the front door. On top of all this, there's a paint bubble at the bottom of the rear door that was there from the factory, and is now a warranty claim, on top of my existing insurance claim. I'm getting tired of this.

This car may not be with me for much longer if this all keeps up.

I never understood know why the factory couldn't just send them the damn panels (pre-painted). It'd probably end up being cheaper that way...

Well, the panel still wouldn't match in color - during the assembly process, the whole car is painted at the same time, so the paint is uniform from panel to panel.

This is why bodyshops are required to blend into surrounding panels when painting something like a door or fender.

I hear ya. The new car blues. I have had ours at the body shop twice as well, and now I am less and less satisfied with the "match" they claim to have worked so diligently to fix. I mean, I understand that its tough to match plastic to metal, but at night under parking lot lights (or any lights) the clear coat/tint is waaaay off. And they missed paint chips on the caulk line on the hatch lip, which is now fixed, but shall always remain visible as they cannot reproduce the caulk line that the factory put on. I am normally a pretty understanding guy with repairs, but very picky with paint/body work...I guess thats what we get for paying an extra $400 for the color

The one comforting thing is that all of us are going through this.

Im trying an experiment, I bought the Ford touch up paint which comes with the base and top coat. I tried painting parts of a card and so far that has been the closest match I have seen. Right now my body shop is working up a few samples for me to audition under the dreaded parking lot lights. If none of those work I'm gong to bring in the touch up paint and see if they can replicate that.

Last time I was in the paint guy showed me all the different mixes they tried. He just kept pulling containers of paint out of the the cabinets, there were tons. So they are definitely trying their hardest. Based on what I saw in there it looked like the top coat they were using was too light. The one that came with the touch up paint was a grey/blue color where theres was a bright baby blue . The base coats all seemed pretty close though.
