I'll let you know! I am now curious myself. Hopefully future Blue candy owners can benefit from our pioneering paint BS.

Me too. I am forwarding my body shop the info you gave me, I just hope they are not getting sick of hearing from me. As it is when I walked in after the second accident everyone in the office knew who I was, and knew that my color was a pain to match.

Didn't even see that you took a deer hit as well... not even 2 full days apart from mine.

I'm starting to think this car is cursed, or it's bad karma associated with my deal.

Trust me they are not pissed to hear from you, just that they cant match this paint. Every decent bodyshop prides itself on getting a good match. At a body shop I used to live near the guys there took nealry a year to figure out a gold paint GM used. It became a crusade for them to capture the right shade lol! Let us know what happens!

"perseverance": Finding a Blue Candy paint match after an accident.

The real secret is in the tint. no matter how close the color is, without the tint in the clear, the right pigment and the right mix, it will reflect light differently. The tint will give a blue reflection more than the clear, so in certain lighting, the non tinted clear will shine more white and lack depth. Your body shop needs to have the proper tint mix in the clear if you want to get it right. Any other attempt to match will fail. With the tint, the base blue will look wrong until it is cleared w/ the tint mix. A painter needs to know this, try different base/tint combos until he finds the right blend.

Ours is TINTED clear coat, that gives you the effect of shading in different surfaces as light reflects differently off of those areas. I would not be surprised if a rookie they assigned the clear coat to made this error. I had that happen on my Mountaineer.

I came off pretty lucky... Dent Dr was able to fix the fender and the only paint I needed was the cover on mirror. Heres hoping I dont need major paint done in the near future

Finally, my Titanium headlights arrived AND my car came out of the shop today.

Looks like they got the color nailed; I'm 90-95% happy with the end result, however I'm a special case (i.e. super anal). Since I've spent some time in the automotive reconditioning world, I have a bit of a trained eye for imperfections and tell-tale signs of bodywork/paintwork, but to the untrained eye, it's a winner. I just have a little de-nibbing to take care of, and perhaps a couple spots to polish.

This is the side of the car that was hit, too.
