So i went in and asked about the soft paint and they said that it was hard to get aftermarket paint to be as hard a factory paint. They said to give it another month or two to cure. And said that the paint company gives a lifetime warranty on the paint for any issue at all. If it ever show any problem they will repaint it no questions asked. And the shop is motivated to do it because the paint company will pay the whole bill. No motivation to give me a hard time about it etc.

Sounded pretty good to me, but I am still skeptical about the softness of the paint. I can wait and see what happens. It really does look great

personally, it sounds to me like they really dont want to open that can of worms, and are hoping either you or the problem goes away...if the paint does harden more, great, but i have NEVER heard of paint taking longer than day to set up when properly applied...My bbuddy and I used to buy salvaged title cars here in MI, replace the front clip, and have the guy at the body shop where we did the work paint em. They were always ready to rock the next day. Just make sure YOU dont go away if the problem doesnt.

It should be hard by now, take it back and have them fix it. Still being gummy after a few weeks isn't right.

I've had my car painted quite a few times now, and yeah... never had any issues with the paint being 'gummy.'

Give it some time, see if it hardens in a week, then head back and ask for the bodyshop manager.

Finally getting around to posting my car. Bought it about a month ago; Blue Candy SE with sport package & SYNC. They messed up on the badging and put SEL on it, but it doesn't matter; as you can see, I decided (after about 3 days of hand wringing) to debadge. I think it's really clean looking.

I was getting between 32-37 mpg the first couple weeks, but the past week i've dropped down to 28.8-30... I've definitely been driving a bit more aggressive, and traffic has been bad (I commute 70 miles/day round trip), but I took an entire tank and drove pretty conservative, and still came away around 29mpg. Hoping it's just adjusting, or winter fuel, or something. Really liked that 34-37mpg range... :)

Overall, I love the car. I wish it was just a bit faster, but that's what the ST is for, and I couldn't wait on it. I am happy with what I have. I didn't set out to get another blue car (3 of 4 of my last cars, including the focus, have been blue) but it was the only one with the black wheels, which I loved. I was really wanting to go with black, but the blue candy is really growing on me. I do like that the car stands out, though. I just wish it didn't look aqua in the dark.

Just after a wash

Debadged - except for the ever-important Apple.

That's one sexy looking car! Wish I chose that color

Anyway, can't help but notice that your left side chrome trim piece on the window doesn't align properly. First thing I noticed about the car. Might just be me..

I noticed the same thing for the first time when reviewing these photos, and I've seen the same flaw on other cars since. It's on my list of things to do when I take it in for the tire swap this spring.
