Remote Start

Okay...odd question here....I have an aftermarket remote start in my Focus (works great). I wanted to use the pit stop feature so I can have the car still run and get out and lock the car and run into store and what not. My only issue is I cannot find the valet switch to use the feature. Obviously, it must be under the dash (hopefully), where do installers usually put them or other aftermarket remote start wiring, etc?

Thank you.

Is it one of those key fob remote starts?

It is a key fob remote start and is not a viper. It's an Excalibur.

EDIT: I found the system and to (NOT) my surprise...the switch is not there. I really wish the company was still in business. I am not happy with the install, regardless, now I have to find a switch online to use the feature and reprogram a few things to my liking.

Anyone know how to make it so the map lights come on when using the remote start key fob??

Thank you.

Mine didn't have a "valet switch" it was just a sequence of buttons and brake presses to allow me to remove the key and leave the car running.
I had the viper system.

I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a valet switch free of charge. Now I can use the feature I had mentioned and reprogram a few things. I still wish the lights came on using the remote start (aftermarket) fob.

Thanks for the help.

I don't know if excalibur is the same way as DEI or viper units but for DEI units and pit stop mode you would
1. you hit the remote start button on your keyfob with your foot off of the brake
2. you will see the parking lights flash on your dash and hear relays clicking usually
3. wait two seconds and then remove your keys
4. It should now operate and run for the designated remote start time for pit stop mode (typically 12-15 minutes depending on your model remote start)

EDIT: should be noted that not all vehicles will lock or unlock from the key fob with the vehicle running, I think the focus does however I can't confirm since I have a five speed and a wife who tends to leave it in gear overnight hence why we do not have a remote start in our focus
