Call it what you will, I think I'll stick with what works.
I've used V Power for the 100 mile trip to the dealer for the 12B37 update and got 41 mpg both ways. Still less than 1,000 miles on the new Focus and I was also going 75-80 part of the time.

yeah really.... I got 37 mpg on regular 10% ethanol for the same trip back from the dealer on the first tank full, which was starting at 150 miles on the odometer. The second tank was the V Power with 41 mpg highway. Part of the improvement could be from the break-in process, but I think there's more to it than that with still less than 1k miles on the vehicle.

I am gonna stick with the V-Power, since it is the only one with an internet video to show is was somehow better than BP ultimate. No other brands were tested in the video, but Shell made some big claims and the video appeared to back them up.

What I'd like to know is how can we consumers know what the ethanol content is at a given gas station -- I mean, how can we know for sure? I wish the pumps had a sign that stated what that particular lot of fuel was instead of the very nebulous "May contain up to 10% ethanol". Even if you had no choice it would still be nice to know what it actually is...

Unfortunately, I don't think you'd ever know. My guess is that the actual percentage will vary from load to load, depending on seasonal factors, who the delivery was from, etc. We get the same "up to 10% ethanol" in CT. I just know that milegae is probably about 3-4% less on the ethanol blend.

Three tanks of premium fuel and 160HP to the wheels I think that should prove it works. That's with less than 200 dollars in mods. I suppose if I wanted to spend the money and redyno on regular I could conclusively state these claims but I think with reasonable assumptions the data proves this out.

I think the people that are against premium gas are the ones that bought it thinking regular was enough and can't handle the fact that engines like this run better with the higher octane jungle juice.

Sorry guys, even though Ford doesn't specifically say to run premium know that your car works better with it. 40 a tank vs 46 or so a tank I think that's worth the better performance and mileage.

The people who are against running premium are the people that are too cheap to spend the additional $3 per fill-up for three tanks. That's $9 for approximately 1000 (or more) miles (less than .01 per mile). To them, it's just easier to flame someone based on their own lack of experience. There are plenty of people here that are all saying the same thing-"I have been running premium due to the performance and/or mileage gain."

I have a 2012 Nissan Armada Platinum that I do not run premium fuel in. Why? Because I don't get the same performance/fuel mileage gain that I get in my Focus. Considering that each tank fuel up is nearly a bill, I use regular and I'm happy with it. But the Armada doesn't have a GDI engine...

We should be at the point that premium users ask the non-premium users to prove us wrong.
