Removing OEM shift knob: How to

Thank you Twenty for the instructions and Sonic for the drill stop idea--well done guys.

I installed the Steeda short-throw bracket about a month ago. The feel was too notchy for me, so I added a Blox spherical knob with your help and it smoothed the shifts dramatically.

Fyi the stock shifter head weighs 6 ounces while the steeda shifter head is 4.5 ounces. Ill have to head out to harbor freight for some drill stops next week some time

Came across this thread... Interesting that it's a screw-type shift knob. Mine is slightly pointed more towards the driver, and the dealer said there's no way at all to straighten it. Perhaps I can just try to tighten it to center? Or will that twist the boot, too...

Yes, you can twist the knob to straighten it and, no, the boot won't twist--it can rotate separately.

How did you get the boot to stay on the new knob? Did you use the factory clip on new knob? I bought a chrome knob and the boot will not for over the knob and there is no way for me to fasten the boot to the knob.
