Easy - move AWAY from the GTA!

Seriously, though ... are you stuck in traffic/sitting at traffic lights/driving under 70km/h for 35-40% (or more) of the time the car's running? If so, then I think your 8.8L/100km is pretty decent for a car of this size/weight.

If you can take a road trip to Waterloo/London/Barrie at speeds between 85-110km/h, I think you'll see how much better fuel economy your Focus will return. Heck, just hop on the highway for 15-20 min. (maybe around 10PM on a weekday) and cruise @ 105km/h in the right lane).

Been recording the fuel-ups since the car was purchased. It works out to about 26.8 avg MPG which I think isn't so great. Not sure how you guys are getting such amazing mileage on it.

I guess that sounds about right then. Hopefully it gets better once the temperature gets warmer. At least this is far better than the 2.3L Mazda3 we previously had which was getting around 10.5L/100km.

For a 20 min hwy run with some headwinds I only got to 6.5L/100km (36MPG) this morning (-19C) driving at about 108km/h.

Last night (-10C) driving in the opposite direction at about the same speed, I averaged 5.74L/100km (41MPG) so it doesn't take much to lose 5-6MPG.

(btw, I reset the AVG. MPG for each run and I have 15" winter tires on instead of my 17" wheels, so knock off ~1.89% off those figures)
