im wondering how long the fuel pumps last ?
I have 190K on the car and its been boosted since 80K lol. Still original fuel pump, but still thinking its just a badly clogged up fuel filter. Thinking if the pump was going bad and dying, any strain below 5000K in boost would still have some issues. Weird just above 4,500-5,000 when the car fell on its face.

But if the fuels not getting through the filter fast enough when the pumps working hard, and tapping the fuel filter seemed to correc the problem for 30-45 minutes, and when the problem came back it wasnt as bad as before.....thinking its just a filter.

But we will know in a little bit. Going to change the fuel filter probably around 10 and take it for a drive. Should have an update by 11.

You also have a sock (filter) on the fuel pump that are also bad about stopping up

You also have screens in the tops of the Injectors but I would check those till everything else is ruled out

Is there no one you know that has a xcal or predator

I wouldn't lose all fuel at the injectors up top end in boost with a screen or two dirty. I'd have the worst luck ever if all four injectors were clogged lol. Either screens on/in the pump or clogged up fuel filter. Start with the cheap fix first...cause I honestly used to change these every 12K or so and its been a while! Could be as long as 20,000 miles since I changed the little b@stard

And there are other things besides XCals and predators. Waiting for my OBDII reader to come in the mail and then I will log with the new fuel filter and post as attachment.

What about the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail?

Could be....but figured if that sensor fails, youd get a CEL or some drivability issues. Everything functions perfectly until the Engine needs a ton of fuel.... 9psi and 4500-5000 RPMs. Plus i wacked the filter a few times and it ran great...then cruising again 30 minutes later it started to lean out again. But didnt fall on its face with no fuel like it did when I first noticed the issue. Leaned out into 16 AFR and I got off it. So either filter or pump screens. Changing the filter now...then for sh!ts and giggle fuel system cleaner when the tank gets down to a 1/4 tank to see if it breaks up any crap on the pump screens. Getting quotes on a fuel pump to order and have on the shelf since it is the original pump and has 190,000 miles on it.

UPDATE: Just put in a new fuel filter. Have yet to drive it...but you could physically feel the weight difference in an already light item between the old and new. Also a lot of fuel coming out of the filter...seemed like more than normal from when I changed them every 12K. Definitely gonna take it for a drive in 10-15 minutes after a shower. Fuel Pump sounded normal when allowing it to build pressure. Im gonna drive it 30 miles or so since I am also resetting the ECU. Update yall after 2PM. But wow noticeable weight difference in the filter. Probably went over 20K on this one....what was I thinking.

Any risk on the pump or injectors if I let the gas get low and see if any cleaner will help break up whats on the fuel pump screens into little particles that can pass by?

I think it was the fuel filter. Car drives great up top. Drove about 20 miles. A handful of pulls. Nothing over 12.0 and everything in mid 11s with this cool weather on the wideband. Ill keep ya posted though!

Drove 125 miles.....no issues since changing the fuel filter lol. I won't drag out that maintenance again haha. Fuel pump is fine. Just the filter that caused the issue.

Sooooo...Update time. Seems the fuel filter being new and clean just bought me a couple months. Because today the car cut out again while on the highway and trying to boost. Hasnt happened since the above post.

Barely made it into the hotel parking lot because now it has started having fuel cut and sputtering around 4000 rpms and no boost.

Perfect time for the fuel pump to crap out...while traveling for work. NOT
