Tires:

Today was full of running around gathering parts and working on the Grand Prix.

Yesterday I ordered tires and pressure sensors, which I picked up today. Summer had better come soon, I'm running out of room in my half of the garage!

I ended up picking the Continental ExtremeContact DWS (Thanks for pointing me in that direction Zillon!). I opted for 235/45s, the same size as the tires currently on the Volvo wheels.

I'm still giving the wheels time to cure futher, so the tires won't be mounted just yet. Seeing as how it was snowing again today, that won't exactly be a problem. However, those are two more items to cross off the list.
Very cool, keep us posted!

I ended up starting my own thread on my SEL ebony black hatch. Posted pics of my tail lights, vinyl, exhaust tip, window tint, etc. wheels & tires are supposed to be here tomorrow.

Nice! Can't wait to see everything all mounted up, I love the R wheels myself, and you're going to love those tires.

I wish I worked at a Ford dealer instead of a Toyota dealer; I really don't feel like forking over the cash for the retail prices on the TPMS sensors & trigger.

I saw your thread, though I've failed to reply.

I'm interested in seeing the wheels mounted.

It's nice, if too tempting at times.

I really want to get these tires mounted so that I can throw on the wheels, but I must resist. The paint's still curing and it seems every few days Mother Nature decides we need just a bit more snow.

Sometimes things go as planned, other times they don't. That vinyl in the picture above was red, with the idea being to partially 'red-out' the tail lights on the sedan. Having seen all-red taillights on hatchbacks, I liked the look so I thought I'd experiment.

I started with one light to really test the concept, and I decided that the tint wouldn't be staying. It was a shade off from the red of the lights, and I simply didn't like it as much as on a hatch. In fact, you can see that I wasn't even done applying the tint.

Meanwhile other progress is waiting to be made. The wheels are still curing so I'm hesitant to get tires put on just yet, but hopefully soon.

Today the Focus was taken for a trip out to a nearby town followed by some errands once back in town. 100 km total, and about 36.5 MPG when all was said and done. Hilly roads, city driving, and three adults in the car. I'm happy with that.

Lug nuts:

So, rumor has it that summer is coming soon (though the snow outside would say otherwise). It's definitely time to get the last parts tracked down and bought, so that everything can go on as soon as the weather cooperates.

Today I was out running errands and wound up in the neighbourhood of a favourite shop of mine, so I popped in to see what they had in stock. I saw on Facebook that they had received some new parts so I thought I'd go have a look around.

With new wheels on the menu, why not some new lug nuts to go with them? I opted for a set of Muteki Burned Blue Neon lug nuts. They're a semi-match for the shift knob and keep with the colour scheme of the Focus.

With my wheels sitting by, I popped them in place to see what they'd look like. With the deep pockets of the Volvo wheels they'll be mostly hidden but they're still a nice accent.

Details count.

Speaking of wheels, this Wednesday I'm taking them and the new tires to work to have them mounted and balanced. Save for some hubcentric rings, I have everything I need for the new shoes.

There weren't any on Kijiji.

Also, thank you! I always enjoy hearing (reading) positive feedback.

Our cars run weird and inconvenient wheel and tire sizes!

I'm interested to hear your feedback on those 235/45's... rubbing, comfort, road noise, etc...

Great thread, keep up the good work!
