FocusBoy58,
I'm assuming you stepped the whole setup to 2.5", so did you just remove the first muffler and use the duel-exit borla in place of the old one? Also, was the shop able to use an "off-the-shelf" 2.5 pipe or did they have to custom bend one? |

I started from the two bolt flange at the cat 2.5inch with a borla xs round muffle in the center and at the rear the borla xs traverse mount muffler. Not even noticeable when driving its the best one I've heard as far as sound and loudness.

Yeah, that sounds like what I'm looking for. Something that you can't hear at speed, but when you mash the gas you get a nice classy throaty note. My main hesitation now is no one has been able to provide any numbers as to whether or not you get any performance increase out of all this.

If you guys are so worried about getting more power....you bought the wrong car to start with. Don't get me wrong. I like the ponies....like my '06 Charger w/400hp. but this car wasn't designed with performance in mind. I'm personally diggin the 41mpg vs the 15mpg with my charger. Yeah, you could drop a grand in re-doing the entire exhaust system. And for what....10...15 more hp. seriously. A dual exhaust set-up just looks better than a single pipe. A better sounding muffler and nice big shiny tips make a huge difference in appearance. Are you really gonna notice a gain or loss of 5hp. NOPE! |

Please don't confuse power with performance, most American cars are crap in the corners. I'm a proud American through and through but this is just a long standing fact about Detroit steel. The 2012 focus is the least expensive thing on wheels that can take a ~ 1G turn bone stock from the factory. Additionally, torque vectoring at this price is unheard of. So for the lot of us that want to match the outstanding handling of this car with a little more power, want to make the back-end look even better, and care about how we spend out money, this concern about power gains is entirely legitimate and pertinent. |

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101159 If after reading all this you have doubts theres something seriously wrong with you. Every car Gains Power from getting rid of factory exhaust and switching to larger piping the rules dont change because its a 2012 car. I may not have posted numbers or a dyno yet but the Borla Exhaust cat back on the 2012 makes 8-10whp. Sorry for being so blunt but this comment always makes me think WTF!!!! It pisses me off to no avail because its like noone knows what bolt ons do. Quote:
In Short ya 10whp is a kick in the ass of a difference. Yes the focus is an ECONO car but so was the civic and the older focuses but then again we have 300+whp focuses rolling around that smoke just about anything they race. Again saying a Focus is just a Focus and cant be a "Fast" car is something you say on your SRT Forums. The people that say that or say The focus is the wrong car to do that in also are the same people that cry all night that I just beat them in a FOCUS.

First FocusBoy58 I really like your exhaust. It give a bold look to the rear of your hatchback.
I have been searching the forums and am only finding one dyno for a stock 2012. I am anious to see if the dyno's prove out the 2012 reacts to intake and exhaust mods without any computer mods. I'm sure there will be some increases but not all cars react the same. I'm sure as we start to see some before and after dyno's as more CAI and duel exhaust installs are made. |

What exhaust tip may be put on the stock downturned pipe? That thing is an eyesore, for sure. I'm thinking a tip without some surgery to the stock exhaust is going to be even worse.
Any suggestions? I don't want to bugger-it-up, much.
