Question best turbo for the $$$$

Whats the best turbo for the 2.3?It will be a mostly stock intercooled low-boost setup centered with a goal around 225-250hp.It will be a custom kit.....please dont say "buy toms kit" no direspect but i am poor so building my own is the only option. Also how much boost will a stock daily driver 2.3 take?I plan on a small turbo {faster spooling.there are many turbos on the market I'm planning on useing a used rebuilt turbo maybe a used mitsu turbo...whats your thoughts.details are a plus this will be my first turbo kit.

You better be looking for tuning. I dont believe anyone out there is capable of tuning for the 2.3 yet.

i dont want alot of boost will be on stock internals... as far as tuning i'm in the dark. i was thinking of a t25 or 28 with small intercooler.is there extensive tuning for a low boost setup. i was thinking of adding new injectors. also how much boost should i run on my stock daily driver

you need tuning for any boost on the focus. I believe there is some companies working on being able to tune the 2.3.

Yeah, i don't think it really matters on the turbo setup, the main thing is getting tom to tune it lol. Even if you don't wanna get his kit, get his tune.

250 whp.
2.3 liter (.3 liters gained by increased stroke)
Inexpensive
Lack of turbo experience.

I dont mean to be a major downer.. but simply put. Probably not gonna happen.
I would bet if you do this yourself and on the cheap.. you'll be buying a new block before long.
Or if you do it right... you're going to end up spending more than buying it in kit form (assuming one existed)

I would give any advice to help you out, but unfortunately since nobody has boosted a 2.3 successfully yet or at least we've not heard of it yet, then it's hard to say what is a good idea for your setup. Best of luck.

I with belacyrf. 250 whp is massive, even on the 2.3L. The Focus RS in Europe puts out ~220 hp at the flywheel I believe, and that is still a massively fun car to drive. I think going turbo is great, but you may need to scale your performance expectations back. Good luck though! I hope to be there in about 4 years!
