In such an event it would be difficult to detect until the fluid started to seep past the clutch housing, but the clutch plates would be damaged before that time due to being coated in oil.
Correct, stepper motors are used actuate the clutches.

If there is a fluid leak, it would have to be the gear oil leaking through a seal.

Thanks for the clarification! ;)

TSB 12-1-4 is the latest.
It applies to builds on or before 12/09/11.

Hello everyone;

Well, due to the growth of this thread (leaping & bounding ), for those owners experiencing issues with their Focus; please make an appointment with your dealer and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can get this escalated to the Customer Service Manager for your area.

Once you make an appointment; inquire as to the availability of a loaner. However, as much as dealerships would like to provide a car to every customer needing service, the decision to provide a vehicle is based on availability and/or an extenuating circumstance. This is why we offer rental provisions under our Extended Service Plans. Check out the link; I'm sure there's a plan that will perfectly match your need.

@hoffmanr09,

I'm not offended. When you're ready, just send the PM with the necessary information.

@me2000,

So excited for you! Thank you so much for your patience; now you can enjoy your Focus as you originally desired.

Take care everyone; I'll be on the lookout for your PM's.

Noemi

Should we be PMing you if we get this done, or just if we have issues with our dealer, mine has the issue but it is minor enough that I am just waiting until i go in for a oil change and don't expect any issues with my dealer doing it.

Does anyone know if there is a TSB on the hardware side of the transmission? I know there are a few already in the software/firmware side.

Im not sure if this answers your question but another fanatic on here had their clutch replaced with the newer version that is on the Focus now but no official mechanical fixes besides TSB 12-1-4

Took her out on the highway today for my commute to work and it still is SO much better. My car feels like it's new!

Driving through my office complex was better too (at low speeds).

Good job, Ford, on the update!
