Wow. This thread is massive!

I have a simple question I have not seen in my digging....

Car was built week of 3/12. Has the transmission already had the latest update? I assume the factory has done this. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those "only if the customer complains" things.

Best to just have the dealer check for the update?

It would be absurd if your car did not have the latest firmware.

That would suggest that Ford arbitrarily uses different versions of the TCM firmware.

Forgive me. I admit I did not read all 67 pages. My car was built on 12/11. My symptoms is it seems like Im starting off in 2nd gear with a manual tranny and let me clutch out too soon but I have the Auto. you can hear and feel the shudder. Occasionally it seems to take too long to drop a gear when I could use a little more power and then it figures it out and drops down what feels like 2 gears..

Im having my car serviced Monday to have them do the Steering TSB. I asked if they would check to confirm the latest flash was applied to my Tranny.

Does the new update really resolve these issues? I only have roughly 1100 miles on my car at the moment. I've heard it needs time to break in. Wasn't certain if my symptoms seemed more break-in related or software related.
