If I buy a new 2014 some time in the next year I'm hoping that it will never need to see the inside of any dealer service dept. There's not much choice, though, if it needs anything major like you had done. I need to start doing some homework so I'll be prepared if the need arises.
there is a thread already about the 2014, please bear in mind what you can read there.

I don't understand your point.

I only mentioned that I may buy a 2014 to explain why I'm interested in the question asked in the original post for this thread:

The experience a current owner has had with a particular dealer should not be affected by the model year of the car (within the same generation).

Do you mean that they are not "normal and acceptable"? That means I've been doin' it wrong for 50 years. My older brother showed me how to do that in my second driving lesson. My wife learned the same from her dad. Maybe we would both get along better with a DCT than I had imagined.

Thank you -- I did not know that. Well, so much for the age old advice to not buy a new model in its first year after it is introduced. In this case I've been waiting two already, three if you count the 2011s outside of North America. This has to be giving lots of people inside Ford major ulcers. Not to mention all the customers affected by it.

Yes, I was. They even had the tech who worked on my car do a test drive with me to ensure I was satisfied with his work. They even made sure a week or so later to call me if everything was still fine. Ask for Jacob, the Service Advisor that helped me with my transmission issue that at the time, didn't even know was occurring. He said that the transmission replacement his tech did on my car usually cures the problem. He only knows of one incident out of the many that they did where the customer wasn't satisfied. I have to admit, Fremont Ford was very detailed in their work and wanting to be sure I was "completely satisfied" with their work. I had a couple of squeaks and rattles in the headliner and they replaced it with a new one since they felt that readjusting it wasn't to their standards. So after a month of experience with the new transmission and headliner, knock on wood, I have nothing to complain about.

WOT is wide open throttle take off that some posters here recommend doing a few times to cut clutch shudder way down.
Please be aware that this idea did NOT come from Ford and your cars computer can tell their svc dept that you did this.
I think its completely wrong to think this is how to make your brand new car run properly and everyone has to keep the pressure on Ford.
This idea could help Ford blame YOU for your transmission problems.

In my opinion, everyone needs to stop finding ways to live with a bad transmission and demand that Ford make their transmission run right.

Thank you. had never heard of it before. My dealer has called and asked me to bring the car in at my convenience for testing and repairs. She said they'd do whatever it takes to make me happy. So fingers crossed.
