Sirius question here...

No pun intended...

So I just got a 2014 Focus SE that came with Sirius. Activated the trial and all that blah blah blah. I don't have the big MyTouch screen.

I only get the basic Sirius channels, around 150 I think, is there a way to also get the rest of the XM channels too? For example, my friend has a Dart with the large screen and gets all the channels ever, is that possible with my setup, without having the larger MyTouch screen?

Thanks y'all.

The simple answer is that the channel configuration is not based on the size / type of your screen (MFT vs non-MFT Sync) but rather on which "package" you buy from SiriusXM.

If you go to the SiriusXM website you can choose the package & services that you want, and on what type of devices you will be listening--auto, home, smart phone, etc.

The last time I looked, and from what you say, they still have "XM packages" and "Sirius packages", despite the fact that the merger happened in 2008.

Thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure I have the XM package as well, included in my trial, because I can listen to the XM channels online, but if I try to get to that channel in my Focus, it doesn't find the channel.

Is there a difference between a Sirius receiver and a SiriusXM receiver?

At one time that was exactly the case, but I honestly don't know about currently.

If I may, I would recommend that you get the ESN number of your radio. That can be pulled up right on the Sync screen, and may also be on your paperwork. Then, place a toll-free call to be SeriusXM number and they will be able to sort it all out for you.

Thanks for your input.

Just contacted Sirius via web chat.

There is a difference between the receivers being able to receive just Sirius channels and then the SiriusXM channels (normally internet only channels, that some cars can receive, like my friend's car [then again he got the big screen kit where as I only have the smaller screen version]).

The Sirius app for mobile phones can get those channels, and then be synced to my Focus but will use data against my wireless plan.
