Just checked, sure enough ... another quirk I had overlooked. This MFT journey is sure shaping up to be an interesting one!

So, based on what I'm reading here, should I just stay with the original version of MFT?

I really haven't had serious problems. I occasionally get the "black screen" update and the voice command is sometimes slow when first starting out. But I'm thinking I may be better off not to update. Your thoughts?

I love Android, but I don't think I want it running in my car yet :) That said, as buggy as Android is, it probably wouldn't be much worse than MFT.

My personal thought is just go with the new version. You won't get any support on the old version. We need to push Ford to fix bugs, so the more people running the current release and reporting bugs the better... Now, I can't confirm this, but I imagine if it doesn't work out and you complain enough, you could get 2.11 reflashed on your unit (though I imagine the first answer will be no...).

why trade an unknown set of problems for problems you already know? how about waiting until the new set of issues are worked out / rectified?

i've rarely had any issues with mft as is on v 2.11, only had 4 "scheduled updates" screens since i've bought the car. even fewer lock ups. my gripe is with the gps as sometimes my vehicle starts to float off the route, rendering it useless.

but i have my cell phone in case the gps acts up.

i dislike that i'm hearing features are seemingly being taken out with this "upgrade". ford shouldn't make us trade in functionality for reliability. how about they just fix everything? too much to ask that we get what we pay for?

If those are your biggest problems, just stick with v2.11 until the next version comes out. I had SIGNIFICANT stability issues with my phone as well as ridiculous iPod scrolling/request lag. For me, this update (with all of its glitches and missing features) is still an "upgrade." For you, I doubt you'll find it any better than your current setup.

Well, I am a developer myself. The thought of running anything but the latest code is anathema. We are always amazed that people running some old version of code are even still alive given how awful it was.

Keep in mind that even if you aren't experiencing the bugs now, they are there in 2.11. That said, you can always upgrade later, so it's your choice.

how many people still run xp, when windows 8 is seemingly around the corner?

i'm not advocating staying on 2.11 and 2.11 isn't an ancient version of mft. it was the version prior to v 3.

stability is gained by some, still missing with others. but it's generally accepted / agreed that functionality is lost. i agree that in the end, it's the user that decides whether to upgrade or not.

in my case, it's not worth it until ford returns some of the functionality... or it will actually be a "downgrade" for me.

to everyone benefiting from the "upgrade", congrats.

My stability has decreased. I had one instance on the prior version where it locked up, but it overall worked well for me. Upgraded, and now NAV system failing (not to mention the horribly slow nav system altogether) and just plain missing simple functionality (miss-mapped buttons, inability to use random buttons, system getting stuck on one audio input, the voice controls not working globally (have to say "Navigation" first to enter ALL nav commands--- each time! even when I'm already in NAV). It's frustrating because it's a daily thing and the small bugs are just WTF? types of bugs... the large bugs are complete loss of functionality (GPS, voice control, media indexing).

Wait... I won't be able to say "destination street address"? I'll have to say navigation first?
