Conspiracy theorists please chime in!

Not to worry.

DA5T-14D545-ZA.zip is not used as part of the update from any previous version.

They can then tweak the code for any glitches found before huge money is spent sending out update sticks again.
For a Beta to work you need really high quality feedback, such as very detailed bug reports being submitted to the dev team who can then prioritize the trouble reports, try to reproduce them and then schedule them for fix (or in some cases not fix them due to time constraints, etc).

It is likely that Ford did something along these lines with the internal Beta. They probably had web forms, etc, in which diagnostics had to be provided for reported failures and the engineers likely would have wanted to followup with the users who reported them.

For those who think that internal testers don't report bugs because they are afraid of losing their jobs, they should meet my internal users, they don't pull any punches and are in fact harder to please than the vast majority of our external customers.

For a system as big and complex I'm not surprised that Ford did not want to do an "external" Beta in which every one who was able to update the system would be in a position to air Ford's dirty laundry through the re-write process.

More than likely there is already a dot release in the works that will be released in another 60-120 days that address many of the items users are reporting here... it's just likely that those items weren't going to make the build date for the general release.

Now, if we can just get them to commit to app link this year, I can buy myself a Ford. :)

So did it hijack my phone and report the installation?

Or did one of you guys report yours with my .xml file I accidentally uploaded at first yesterday?
Weird... Mine was reported successful as well. However, I DID run a vehicle health report.

Ugh...

iPhone was connected to the car and was listening to music. Turned off the car to get gas and then turned it back on when I was done filling up and the dang USB audio was not producing sound! It's the same freaking bug as the last version. Only way to fix it is to disconnect and reconnect the USB.

Disappointed.

As mentioned by someone else earlier, the "valet mode" is still available, so that complaint can be removed from the update list...

Me too. Those pics are going in a pissed off email to Ford if I can....

That's not all it did today. I was listening to ESPN on Sirius and noticed the the SiriusXMU preset button was lit up red and the other presets were not. So I presssed it. Nothing. Not a beep, no switching stations. So apparently your Sirius preset buttons can get stuck or MFT thinks it's on that channel...

Awesome.... What kind of testing did they do???

I work for the 2nd largest insurance company in their technology division working in a dept that develops an application and you should see the amount of testing that goes into that...! And it's not customer facing at all. This is a car we're talking about! Mind boggling.

And these are very obvious test conditions... Turning off the car when USB audio is playing and turning the car back on... It's not rocket science.
