Guess there was something up with my system from the get go since I've only had the car for about 10 days. No wonder album art never really worked right.
What version are you installing? The one shared in this thread or the download from Ford Sync?

Downloaded from Ford Sync, though I would be willing to bet the one from here would work since the update direct from ford gave me the same error originally.

Once it's done I'll report back on the size. :)

I have a theory on the size difference...Ford released mobile apps for iOS and Android that were basically the interface (almost fully-functionality) and since some of the things don't really work (radio, nav, etc...) they were "created" with shockwave videos that would play when you try to use those functions. That way, it looked as though things were running correctly, even when they weren't.

The total size of the download was 89MB, if I'm not mistaken, and it was mostly video files. If they were, for some idiotic reason, included in the installer that was sent out...that would explain the difference.

Update done successfully. Looks great from what I can tell, I like the layout and it seems much snappier so far. Now to grab some wallpapers and put them on tonight. :)

For the sizes:
From Syncmyride.com - 680MB
Download from here - 696MB

It is true.

There is a difference in the APIM (firmware wise).

If the Nav SD card is not present on a vehicle with Nav, you will get a message "Insert Nav SD Card".

I was sent to dealer last night because of extreme problems with MFT. They had USB and Nav Card for me. Have gone 24 hours without a problem, a new record. Only problem was I could not program the two favorites on the steering wheel. Called Ford and they had no idea. They implied I may have lost this functionally with the upgrade. If I don't have black screens of death, totally black dash board at night, max air, max heat, max volume while parked at night, etc, I guess I should be happy. Good luck to everyone. They did the upgrade because Ford had no idea when my upgrade would arrive since mailings are being staggered.

They fixed one of my biggest gripes.

The reason for changing the indicator for every 2 volume steps (instead of 1 step in the previous version) should be obvious.

I'm going to figure out a way to test this theory one day. :)
Please do, as I have a similar suspicion.
Regardless, it is just a matter of time before a tech company (ie. http://www.coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm) takes care of this for us (assuming insertion of the appropriate nav SD card does not enable the system).
