Oddly enough, I have *never* lost my presets during any master reset or software upgrade.

Which is why the whole process leaves me with so little confidence - Ford clearly doesn't totally wipe/reset the system.

Wow! Never? I have had a mixed bag. Sometimes I've lost it all. Sometimes I've lost radio presets and my phone but the wallpaper has remained or lost radio presets and wallpaper but the phone has remained, and generally every other possible combination of loss/remain.

Totally agree though. If the reset is truly and completely supposed to restore the system to factory settings, in which none of that saved info was present, then having some or all of the info remain after the master reset indicates that even this process (Sync support's number one go-to solution/recommendation to fix bugs) has bugs and doesn't consistently complete properly.

Of course remember the 3.0.2 installs? Remember how some got lucky and their set favorites for the star buttons remained as the were set before the install and others, myself included, didn't get so lucky and got stuck with the stupid home screen/info favorites? Shows that even the install process didn't perform consistently between cars.

Sadly, based on my test drives, the Dart sucks for being a car: One of my standard tests when I test drive a car is to accelerate to about 40-45 MPH, and then try to simulate a situation where I need to pass (quick acceleration.) The dart (both the 2.0 and 1.4 turbo) failed that miserably. (The engine would make more noise, but that was the ONLY reaction to pressing down the pedal.)
Yep both my cars have the 8.4N versions.
Sweet as heck.

The only downside is I wish it was the 8.4AN versions which include App support. Built in Pandora, Slacker, + future apps etc. just ties into your phone to use them.

Maybe the Dart GT will perform better.

In terms of pickup I definitely notice it... However big however at least it is consistent. I know what my car is capable of, with my Focus I never knew if the engine was going to kick it or not, and or if the gears were going to shift late or too early... Or hesitate or stutter...

I'll take slow and consistent acceleration over an unpredictable car.

Oh like the Ford Applink was supposed to work. Maybe Ford should go steal some of Chrysler's engineers to fix the MFT debacle.....LOL

Not sure what AppLink is, cause they ignored it on the 2012's even though it was the exact system as 2013 and I guess 2013's got it. And the 2012's even had option to install Apps...

But I guess them failing over and over again to fix a broken system takes priority.

I plan to go back to a pickup once I am in a position to sell my house and move closer to work. I am too much of a DIY guy to not have a vehicle capable of hauling lumber from the local home improvement store.
I hear the 2013 Ram 1500 has the new 8.4AN :)

OMG it's a Microsoft system too! It would be so damn easy for Microsoft to throw Ford a bone to fix it. Since Microsoft is making all these infotainment systems, Chrysler, KIA UVO, Hyundai's Voice command Navigation, they know how to make it work, they just aren't helping Ford out. Ford should throw in the towel, go to Google and we can have an Android OS on this POS. Then voice search, speech to text, web browser, and applink would function.

No it is not a Microsoft system (I'm sure it isn't). They just use Bing search APP.

Ok found it, it is made by Harman

So at least it is made by a well known company.
Some of Harman's brands:
Aha™
AKG®
Becker®
BSS®
Crown®
dbx®
DigiTech®
Harman Kardon®
Infinity®
JBL® - Lifestyle
JBL® - Professional
JBL Synthesis®
Lexicon® - Lifestyle
Lexicon® - Professional
Mark Levinson®
Martin®
Revel®
Selenium®
Soundcraft®
Studer®

It sure looks a lot like the FMT and UVO interfaces. I'd bet cash it's Microsoft, why else use Bing? Only MS products use Bing, just like Google products use Google search engine.

Nope still Harman.

This is their latest 8.4AN in Chrysler vehicles
