For what it's worth, I get around the irritating Bluetooth disconnect glitch by simply turning Bluetooth off and then back on with my iPhone. After that, I just tap on the Bluetooth button on MFT, and it reconnects. This usually works about 99% of the time, but I have had to do it a few times in a row before (YMMV). Hopefully Ford will eventually work all of these annoying bugs out of their "infotainment" system, but I'm not going to hold my breath on it.

Question about My Ford Touch. I'm not familiar with using a car with My Ford Touch at all. I was wondering if the Cd player/radio works independently from the touch screen? Can you just have the touch screen be totally black while just using the cd player/radio?

Not that I know of.

Not sure why you would even want the touch screen black? Once you are on radio, you can use the steering wheel controls to scroll favorites, adjust volume and such. Or with CD skip to next track from those controls. This assuming your vehicle is equipped with steering wheel controls.

Which phone do you have? I have a Droid Razr HD with Verizon. The phone connects quickly once getting in the car and stays connected. Never (yet) lost connection. Long as BT is on phone BEFORE turning on the vehicle. If I wait till vehicle is on, then turn BT on phone it usually takes a little bit to connect.
I know some phones ask during the pairing process to "always allow" connection and you press a check box on phone and say yes. This popup only shows briefly on phone. If you don't do it, it slows down each subsequent pairing.

I've got an iPhone 4 with the latest version of iOS installed. It's pretty much acted like this since I switched over to a MFT system, though. My previous vehicle (2009 Focus) NEVER had these issues. The Bluetooth always stayed connected, and the SYNC system was always very reliable. Unfortunately, the same cant be said about MFT. :(

2013 Escape, Focus, C-Max - Rear View Camera Guidelines Disappear
Some 2013 Escape, Focus, and C-Max vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch and a rear camera may exhibit guidelines which may disappear. This may be caused when the customer shifts into reverse very quickly after starting the vehicle. It can be avoided once the guidelines are set to On by shifting into reverse just a bit more slowly following ignition-on sequence. The customer should wait for the SYNC system to fully boot up and show the home screen before shifting or the concern may repeat. Guidelines can be turned back on by customer by entering the SYNC Menu (two gears) - Vehicle - Rear View Camera - Guidelines. Engineering is currently investigating this condition through the quicker service fix (QSF) process. Until a new service procedure and/or parts are available do not attempt repair. Monitor OASIS for updates.
I just bought a Focus about four weeks ago (see my sig). And waiting for the system to completely boot to avoid guidelines from becoming unset is untrue. This will happen at unpredictable times whether you shift to reverse quickly or wait for the system to supposedly finish booting. There have been times that while I am driving and have to go into reverse, that is, after the system has been booted for some time, these guidelines still disappear.

I took it to the dealership today for a different warranty defect and they had given me a rental while they have my car. I pointed out the guidelines problem too. This, by the way, is the second time the car is at the dealership only about a month into my ownership.

It is so infuriating because when I tell them there is a defect, they treat me like I'm a moron that I don't know what I'm talking about. I have to prove to them that a defect exists all the while they utter bullshit as if I'm lying to them.

I bought the car to enjoy it. Enjoying it does not mean taking it to the dealership repeatedly only in the first few weeks of ownership. This is not even maintenance, this is warranty, workmanship defects. For some reason these a-holes think I'm sadistically enjoying wasting everyone's time, mine and theirs.

After paying a better part of $27K for a car, I expect it to NOT be broken. I paid extra for MFT and that better work as expected. I didn't pay a premium to get Premium Aggravation, that is included in my life already -- I don't need to pay extra for that. And at the same time, warranty, workmanship defects should require little to no effort from me to troubleshoot outside of pointing it out to them, instead, I troubleshot the problem for them twice and all these fools have to do is replace the part.

I'm angry! I'm frustrated. This kind of BS did not happen when I dropped off my Mercedes. Is it just this dealership? Damn you Sunrise Ford in North Hollywood! I'm beyond livid.

I called Ford about this issue (previous post) and apparently I caused this issue by having my ipod attached to the USB port as documented in the owners manual. Even though the documentation CLEARLY states that the system is compatible with the 5th generation ipod classic, I was just informed that actually leaving it attached can cause problems. As well, having only 5000 songs on it might also cause this to happen. (I asked just how many songs I'm allowed to have, but he didn't know. I suspect anything over "zero" might be blamed. The 80GB drive could easily hold over 10,000 high bit-rate songs.)

REALLY?! Is THIS what FoMoCo is all about these days?

I remember a few years ago... we'd joke around about what cars would be like if they were built by Microsoft. The joke was comparing the unreliable (at that time) Windows OS's to cars which were, for the most part, 100% reliable. We joked that we'd have to reboot the cars once a day, that having the car suddenly stop running would be normal, etc.

Guess what? I have 3 Win7 machines I haven't booted in 2-3 weeks (and then not because of an error) and a linux box that hasn't been rebooted in months. My car... well, I had to reboot that last night.

Ford... WTF?!
Bwahaha! I'm quite familiar with the joke... the thing is it can't be pejorative if it's true. MFT has crashed on me twice while driving. The message says, "scheduled maintenace" -- whatever.

The first time it crashed, the voice command wouldn't work anymore. It required a master reset to get that to function again. I paid $1000 extra for this aggravation.

That said, the car actually drives really well. Also those summer tires are terrific, it's like they're glued to the asphalt. But all of that enjoyment is marred by Microsoft.

I wonder if someone will soon create an opensource Linux distro for that system.
