After doing this, my location is always back under the compass.
I had this exact thing happen to me yesterday, I called Ford Customer Service in Canada, was transferred to a MFT "SPECIALIST" (ya right), who proceeded to tell me that the street location was "never" listed under the compass on the home screen!!!! I told him he was mistaken, but he assured me that my system was working correctly without the information being displayed under the compass. Oh, and I had 3-BSOD episodes yesterday, my back up camera has frozen 4 times in the last couple of days. Did 2-master resets, had to pair my phone each time and all the FM/Sirius presets etc.
I am SO SICK of this MFT fiasco ah I mean "PERFORMANCE UPGRADE", I can't wait to get into a car that actually, you know...WORKS!!!!! Ford has lost me as a customer which is really a shame as I like my car, but I've been dealing with MFT/Navigation crap since June of 2011 and I'm at the end of my rope.
Now, I start the search for my Focus replacement vehicle and sooner than later!!!

We are right there with you. Amazing they can't get competent CSR specialists, they either are lying or are not informed about how the system should work, which is sad. All it does is add fuel to the fire.

I can't imagine how many customers they have lost over the MFT and DCT. Makes me sick too.

Canada chiming in on the wonderful "Performance Upgrade" ... MFT3 is a joke. Question: Did you have all these problems with the previous ver 2.11? Would you have rather kept it on the previous version instead? Ford should make it possible for people to downgrade to the earlier version to help fix this horrible MFT3 release. Personally I am running ver 2.10 and it works great 99% of the time so I won't be upgrading until they get this fixed right and put back all the cool features it was originally designed with.

Don't forget to sign the petition on change.org !!!

I would do this:

1. take a picture of the address showing (note date and time)
2. take a picture of the address NOT showing (note date and time)
3. take a picture of each BSOD you get (note dates and times)

Print this all out, take it to your dealer. Tell them it's an ongiong persistent issue that you need resolved. They will most likely replace your APIM and reload your system.

Get your system back, do a master reset first thing. Use it and see if it's better. If not, contact your regional Ford Rep. Ford customer service can get you his/her contact info. Keep all your documentation and pictures, including your dealer service orders. Chances are he will make sure it gets resolved for you. If not, the regional rep has a boss... contact them next.

You have a warranty. Use it. This can all be handled free of charge to you. MFT/Sync does not suck this bad. If you are having the amount of trouble you've described there is something seriously wrong with your system. Mine works quite well. Yours can too.

What is the point of including pedestrian paths to the sat nav in a car? Look at the mess of spaghetti noodles this road looks like... Everything in the red circle that isn't the yellow road is a bike or pedestrian path. How in the world do I disable this? It's confusing as hell, makes it very distracting while driving... Then there's the next photo...

Same thing... everything in the red circle that's grey is a pedestrian path. At a glance, it looks like you can cross the freeway through those roads... but no.. you can't even get from Maritime Way to Gray Cres without going on Campeau. Why do I need to know where paths are, and why do they have to look the same as roads? This is a car!

Please tell me we can disable this somehow...

HAHA! Have you ever seen that bumper sticker "If you don't like the way I drive, then stay off the sidewalk!" Well, maybe when Navteq provided Ford with the map data, they had that in mind. JK!

I have that GPS problem too. Sometimes the street displays under the compass for a few days, and other times its gone for a few days. No explanation. I hate it.

But my real frustration is that radio station nubmers and name do not display on the screen for me after the MFT update. Once in a while they do, but usually no. I can't tell from looking at the screen what station I am on. Is that fixable? Seems like basic feature of a radio in a car.

Also, if I am listening to radio, switch to USB and listen to some music, and then switch back to radio, the station has changed! To what I have no idea, since the radio station is not displayed on the screen anywhere. Massivley frustrating.

I tried to search the forum for this problem, but was bewildered by this 130 page MFT read first thread.

Are there any voice commands to simulate pushing the four corners of the screen? I want to stop pressing the screen to change from the home screen to the entertainment screen for my Sirius music.

There used to be a way to do it with a thumb press (star 1 or star 2, your choice, ent and nav for me personally), you didn't even need to hit the voice paddle. You paid extra to have that feature taken away from you but hey, now you can get to the home screen and Sync services really easily which is the choice Ford made for you because that is what you like best. Ford knows!
