My turn,

Just got my FocusTI 2012 and am loving the car. Same issues as a lot of people with MFT though, and I have to tell you I'm very appreciative of this forum. It's made the coping process a lot easier :D.

So here's the deal: 2012 FocusTI manufactured in March 2011.

MFT oddities are all in line with what the majority of people seem to be experiencing here.

Thanks to the wealth of information from you guys here I was actually able to advise my service advisor! I told him I applied the usb updates with no luck, and that i should bring it in to him so they could apply whatever updates they had before I took it back out on the road, experienced more of the same problems, and eventually brought it back in to have the APIM replaced :P. At the time he laughed.

Suffice it to say my new APIM is now on order and the car will be going back into the shop early January :).

I was also able to get them to apply the latest TSB as well while it was originally in the shop (sorry forget what TSB stands for).

Anywhoo.. enjoying my journey with the rest of you...

Does anyone have an update on the release of the next MFT update? I remember reading about the release several weeks ago. I know a USB drive is to be shipped to me as a registered owner, or I can choose to go to a dealership and obtain the update.

My main inquiry is when will it be released by Ford?

Not that I qualify as 'everyone' as I don't actually have MFT therefor am not actually waiting on said update.

I just scoured the interwebs with Google, and the only definitive answer I can find is "Early 2012"

The official announcement says it will be released in the 1st quarter of 2012. Most expect it in late January or early February.

Yes, you'll get a USB drive in the mail with the upgrade on it and also a SD card with new maps if you have the Nav option. Performance has been improved by optimizing the system's subprocesses and better use of the graphics accelerator. This has freed up bandwidth with the Freescale CPU for more critical tasks, reportedly improving the speed and stability of the system. There's a bunch of other improvements which are listed on the original press release.

Took a look at those update videos, looks promising, there is still a noticeable lag (improved so that is a plus), overall looks better than current version.
Looks like it is restricted to slow inbetween presses, especially when she was changing the temperature controls.

Would love it if it worked like my wife's Journey

As the MFT uses Windows CE I'm wondering if they've made the change to Windows 8 with this system? It's supposed to be a huge improvement over anything MS has released before (and runs accross the entire range of systems) or so I've been told.

CE has been out for a while and I'm sure has its limitations. Would kind of make sense if they made the migration.

There is no way it is moving to win 8. Windows 8 won't even be released until end of next year.
