Here's one positive since upgrading. My voice controls on my zune actually work now. The first time since I've bought the car that they have. Now if it would only show my cover art and take care of the other crazy bugs.

Not sure what you mean by original. I bought my SEL last month. About 2 weeks before ver 3 came out.

When was your car built? Did you buy off the lot? You could have bought a car yesterday that was built last year. I think I read somewhere in here that cars made in may / june have slightly different components then ones made later.

I was home about 30 minutes after a drive.
I don't think I did anything out of the ordinary to cause this. I just listened to music over BT on the way home as usual, paused playback, turned off car, removed key... as usual. I don't recall seeing if the MFT went through the shutdown procedure or not. I just know what music wasn't playing after I hit pause.

Anyways, I went out right after he told me... saw immediately the MFT lit up. Hear the radio loud. No key in or anything. It went to HD radio, which the system will do by default. Low battery warning up in the driver's info panel.
Me, pissed as ever. Now worried one morning I'm not going to start my car because of a dead battery. Do I have to start walking out at night to make sure my radio doesn't come on automatically?

I don't think I have ever regretted a purchase this much in my life. I bought this car in hopes of having something I could rely on to get to work every morning, and now I have to worry about radio turning itself on and draining my battery in the middle of the night.

Now I have an OCD habit of turning the volume down to mute most times I leave the car, in case it does it again. I've never had to do that before... As far as I know, though it's only done it the once, although since I mute the audio now, I can't be certain.

I like to think the battery level protection will kick in and prevent MFT from draining it flat... but then again, I also like to think the radio will stay off when I leave the car... Maybe it gets bored?
do our new focuses come with battery protection? meaning there's something built into the car to prevent it from completely draining the battery in the occurrence the stereo was left on?

Yes, Ive seen this work multiple times when fooling with MFT after turning the car off. The screen will popup that it is shutting down to protect the battery and it automatically shuts things down in 30 seconds or so. I actually tried to stop it but could not. I don' know if it detects battery drain (via low threshold voltage) or just goes off after a predetermined amount of time??

the bold is what i'm talking about.

i know the stereo stays on when the car is shut off and turns off after opening the door. but what about those rare occurrences where it may turn on / stay on as stated in the original problem?

is there hardware / software built into the car that'll keep the battery from completely draining?

i know we have auto headlights, but if we turn them on (manually) and keep them on... is there a feature built into the car to keep them from draining the battery?

as the op of the original issue stated, i'd hate for mft to somehow turn / keep itself on via glitch and find my battery dead the next day. i know it may be a freak occurrence, but you never know.

just called into ford and spoke to a tech. they said there is NO feature built into the car that will keep mft from draining the battery in the event it were to stay on. so if your mft stays on like the op of the problem, the battery will continue to drain until it's dead.

they said it SHOULDN'T be happening, and suggested a master reset if it occurs, or take it into ford for servicing.

Hmmm, well there goes that theory. Seriously bizarre. You may have to contact Ford directly to get to the bottom of it and give them a spanking -

Yeah... I figured as much... seems like most of my driving these days will be between home and the dealership.
