2012 Focus SE Vibration issue

Hello,

it's been almost a month that I drive my new Focus SE 2012, and I have a small issue with the car that I would like to have some opinions.

The problem is that while driving I feel that the are too much vibrations of the car and the road. For example although the road seems very flat and nice, the car still trembles a bit. Also if I touch to the break pedal with my foot I feel that the pedal is also trembling. Maybe the suspensions are very hard (some "feature" of the sports package?)

It's not a big trembling issue, but other cars that I have driven seemed to have a smoother and more comfortable ride. Does any one have experienced this?

I checked the transmission issue thread but I think my problem is different than that. In my case the transmission change happens fairly smoothly.

Thank you

It could be that the car was not properly aligned from the factory. A simple alignment can be done to remedy this. Be sure to have your dealer inspect this free of charge.

It is possible you have a wheel balancing issue. Again, easy to fix and free at your dealership.

Those are the two things I would recommend doing first to see if the problem goes away. If after you do these two freebies and the problem exists, then I would have the dealer take a closer look at it for a more serious problem.

Hey Magneto80,

Your Focus falls under the new vehicle warranty, so definitely take it in to the dealer for the freebies Mac.mogul mentioned.

Here's a link to schedule an appointment at your local Ford dealership:Owner.Ford.com

Keep me posted on the results.

Hi Mac.mogul,

Thank you for the great advise!

Road 'feel' is stronger in the 2012 Focus than in many cars.
That is I can certainly 'feel' the road surface through the wheel.
Like going from a concrete to a very smooth asphalt, WOW. significant.

If it is doing it all the time, Or stronger at certain speeds.. I would think it is one of your wheels is a little out of balance.
The weights are press-on type on the inner side of the rim. One may have just been a little off.
I do NOT know if your dealer will check them for you?
That is a 'fit and finish' issue, and it may be well within acceptable tolerances.
You could ask them to check, but they might ask you to pay?
Uncertain on that.

Thank you very much for your messages. I will contact to my dealer to make them check the car. I hope it is a small issue that they can fix quickly.

I also concur. Get it fixed under warranty. Although I have a high/low wobble/humming sound from the front drivers side between 50 and 70 MPH that they have not been able to identify and find a cure for. It seems a little long to correct this on a brand new car.
