Well, I've gotten to drive to school with this lovely new shifter. I love how much tighter the gates are, and obviously, how much shorter the throws are. It truly makes the shifter feel like a fine piece of equipment. Honestly, the product before wasn't bad, but this is just awesome. Only other shifters that I know that feel this nice are Mazdas and Hondas (on this economic scale).

On the stock shifter and now on the STS, I have always found 5th and 6th to feel slightly farther over than the way the spacing of 1st through 4th feels. Reverse, it's always been a pain, and I think it always will. It feels no different than the stock shifter to get in reverse, but it's a little shorter distance to push it in there! I will try popping it. It just doesn't like to be slap without arguing...

By the way, I got mine from McNew's Automotive. It's on sale for $81.00 right now. Fast shipping and good service.

Just a quick thanks to WD40 for the great how-to. I had studied this thread for weeks before my shifter arrived, so I hardly needed the instructions to install it. Haha. 40 minutes later, I was short shifting like all SVT's should ; )
Thanks again and good work!

Got my STS for x-mass, install was a piece of Pie. I too studied this tread for weeks before making the install very easy. I'm having no problems at all with Reverse or 5th & 6th gears to me it's perfect. It just makes the car so much fun to drive. Now I just need Wayne to call me back for other Tweeks.

I just had to post a follow-up. After the SVTOA cruise, I got to feel the stock shifter again. All I could think was wow. I swear the shifter felt like it actually had flex in it (where the plastic is at the base I believe), and it was so much looser in terms of gate precision and just overall feel. It's amazing what a difference that little short-throw shifter can make in terms of quality and feel. All it takes is one feel of a short-throw, and I think every person would opt for it in the end.

Thumbs up sts

very pleased with the STS. all though like most things i ran into a few snags. the cig lighter did not want to come undone and i had to remove the whole center console. i did a custom shift knob and i think it all looks and works great. feels weird though, all the top gears 1,3 & 5 feel like they are futher away all though i am sure it's just me. also my kit only had one tube of the most worst sticky lube i have ever seen or used. i should have gotten some nice stuff we use for the aircraft. but anyway it works as advertised. i do like the over all feel. will get some pics up tomorrow, have to go too work now.

go to photpbucket.com
that is what most of us use. upload your pic to them, and host it from your account there. much easier, this will also allow you to post multiple images in 1 post.
