Can you go into more detail? Are you completely unable to find reverse, or you're just finding it harder to locate reverse compared to before?

Qusestion WD40: Is it possible instead of replacing the shifter. Take it off and take it to a machine shop and have it cut from 7-3/4, to 6-3/8. Then rethreaded for the shifter ball. Instead of spending 80.00$. Or is the shaft not round down that far?

uhhh its round all the way down im not too sure if someone could thread it though?....if you wanted to do that just buy a universal knob that clamps on...back to business...[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]I put my steeda shifter on yesterday...wow the thing is amazing, and i love how baggy the boot is now install went pretty well except i just felt like i was gonna break about 9 things as i was taking it off...shift cables especially...took about an hour and a half with that in mind...and i would feel alot better about it if i didnt feel like it is gonna break or something but thats just due to my install...the thing is GREAT

You sure could do what you're talking about....
IMHO, you wouldn't have the same results though.
The FRPP/Steeda STS also has a revised pivot point to shorten the throws.
There's no way you could get that sort of thing machined into the stock shifter.
By the time you add up the machine shop charges, and your downtime,
you may as well pony up for the good piece.
