Nope, they never felt like they were going to break. Once it's warm, the glue get really soft and you can feel when they are pulling apart. The hardest part is getting the first screw driver hold between the lense and plastic, but after that, it's easy going as long as you go slowly around the light.

As for putting them back together, all I needed to do was put silicone in the groove where the lens goes and squeeze. They went together really well.

I'll probably end up doing this one weekend then, since I just bought lamin-x and a headlight restoration kit. Thanks for the info and looking forward to some pics.

Unfortunately, that was the only Passat there. All the other VW's were Golfs and Jettas with the wrong plugs (the signals were all still on the bumpers). If I ever see another one, I'll grab it but I don't know when another VW will show up.

2001-2006. I've heard mentioned that similar model year VW Golfs and Jetta's have the same plugs.
