Nice. Post up when you get them. Black housings are the best way to go IMO.

More like month to month. lol Things are going very slowly right now.



And now for some great news: I went to the salvage yard today and picked up two plugs off a VW Passat for $10 (plus some other smaller items). I've already finished the lens and am going to black out the inside next. Should be running by today or tomorrow.

End of the day report.

Both headlights are restored and resealed. one is wired in and all bulbs are working, one is just sitting in the car but not wired in.

Tomorrow, I need to wire the other light in, aim both of them, and perform the headlight hack so both the xenons and the highbeams are on at the same time. So far so good and I'm absolutely loving them.

Never heard of that hack before. Will you lose highbeams, and will you blind other drivers?

How hard was it to open and restore the lights, I want to do this to mine. Pics tomorrow?

I didn't know about it until today either.

The way it is now without the hack, when I'm on low beam, the xenon is on dim. When I'm on high beam, only the high beam light is on which isn't all that bright on it's own (much less than what the high beam is on the regular headlights)

When the hack is complete and from what I understand, when I'm on low beam, only the xenon will be on dim. Then the high beam is on, the high beam will be on plus the xenon will turn onto bright. From the way it looks, the xenon is like the bulbs in my stock housings (has both a high and low beam) but without the hack, the car thinks the xenon should turn off instead of turning onto bright.

We will see what happens tomorrow.

The lights weren't hard to open at all. I just stuck them in the oven at 250 for 15 minutes and pulled them both apart in about five minutes. It was really easy to do.

Did they feel like they were going to break? That's my fear is knowing my luck I'll end up breaking them. Lol. What about putting them back together, how hard was that?
