2.5 install in 2010 Focus

Hello all, im new here and figured i'd share my 2010 focus that I installed a 2.5 escape motor in. I see alot of people asking about this but not alot doing it so hopefully this helps guys out. First off the car is strictly a dirt track racecar, I got it cheap due to front end damage. The car had 130k miles so a new motor was a must to spin 7k rpm on a constant basis. I got a 2.5 with 25k miles and went to work. The install was actually really straight forward and pretty simple. I installed a vct delete and crower stage 2's from Massive and also crower valve springs and a balance shaft delete. All electronics and sensors are factory focus except the throttle body, which wouldnt bolt to the escape manifold, and the crank sensor which also didnt bolt up so escape parts took there places. All this went together in just a few weeks so I didnt have alot of time for pics but heres some of what I got. Enjoy!

The huge intake ports is the thing that made me want to do this swap

The huge difference between stock and crower springs

Vct delete, the purple plug, and crower cams installed. Just the valve cover away from being installed

The front cover had to be cut to clear the belt for power steering. This was actually the hardest part and could easily be solved by installing a 2.3 cover.... but im cheap so I cut this one

Motor came out and back in the bottom with the trans attached, I used the engine crane to lift the car and slide the motor in and out, my car is gutted and light, do this at your own risk haha

I never took a picture of it sitting in the car apparently? But here is the car all complete and sitting pretty

And heres a picture of the cage thats gonna keep me safe. It was much more difficult and time consuming than the whole motor swap!!
We've only made one race so far due to all the rain lately but the car ran great all night. I had the wrong trans ratio so it was on rev limit constantly and having to shift really slowed me down. I've swapped the trans since then but rain has kept me from running it since then. I'm sure I missed alot so if you guys have any questions just ask away and i'll be glad to help

Welcome to FF. I knew it could be done, as Mazda put 25's in the 3.

How does it sound with those stage 2 cams? Do you have a guess on how much the car weighs as it sits now?

Cool project, bet its fun to drive

The car sounds awesome with the cams I think, it lopes more than I thought it would, but that's a good thing. Really not sure on weight but if I had to guess id say around 2200 probably

I hope to get a chance to run it on the dyno this summer and it is tuned by Tom at Focus power. It started and ran on the factory tune but I would never go wide open with that. It runs good but still has some trouble idling but its hard for me to get the datalogs Tom needs cuz I can't just run it down the road like a normal car.

Very cool. Gburg too, not far away. You have mcnews nearby, should take her there and put her on the rollers and tune it up. i'd like to see this girl, it'll help inspire my ongoing dura swap into my mk1. -R

Interesting that the crank sensor from the focus wouldn't bolt up.
Other threads here and on fj..posters said use the Focus crank sensor and crank pulley off the old Focus engine(although the donor engine was from a fusion in some of the swap threads).

They also said(besides recommending swapping the the Focus front cover to the new engine)
to swap oil pump pick ups and oil pans from the focus engine to the new engine as well.

Did you leave the Escape pan on?

I wonder how different the escape 2.5 is compared with Fusion.

Here's one of the threads I'm talking about(but he's using a 2.3 head):
