Hi BZK6351,

I'm happy to update your CSM on this and arrange for a follow-up call; if you'd like me to proceed, just send me a PM with your current mileage.

Thanks!

Crystal

New "to me" Focus...just had this issue

Just bought a 2012 Focus SEL at CarMax and after less than 2 weeks, I just had this steering issue in my driveway. Reading these forum posts have certainly shaken me up.

I noticed some complaints and a service bulleting on the NHTSA website.

Is there a definitive fix for this yet? I only have 13k miles on the car so I still have a warranty.

((((( oh no )))))

If your pwr. steering goes out on the new Focus, you can still steer the unit. There's nothing to worry about such as locking up or so on. Drive the Focus to any Ford dealership and they'd be glad to service the vehicle. Ford hasn't started installing fly by wire on their entry level units. Also note. It doesn't take a 180# human to steer it.

Still no fix.

Still no fix for me.
I'm waiting for a rental to return to the dealer so they can have their THIRD whack at it.

My troubles didn't start until it had about 33,000 miles on it. Before that, I only had one issue where it wouldn't start. I'd get in, turn the key and...nothing. No click, nothing. Then, about a half hour later, presto, starts up fine. I wonder if they're somehow related...

They seem to think it's a software compatibility issue but all the codes have been cleared and the software re-installed twice now, and it keeps happening.

Here's a link to some video and a photo I took. You can clearly hear my frustration in one of them. Good thing I didn't swear!

Tach...

BZK6351, I noticed a slight pulsing of my tachometer and speedometer yesterday.

I thought it was odd at the time. After seeing your video, I think it might not be a coincidence.

Hi MrTimmy,

I recommend visiting your local Ford Dealership so they can perform an inspection on your vehicle. They'll be in the best position to accurately diagnose and repair your Focus. I'm happy to look into this and see how I can help as well; just send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name so I can get started.

Hi BZK6351,

I checked out your case notes and see that your CSM has been working with your dealership on getting this resolved. If you have any additional questions or concerns, let me know so I can update your case.

Crystal

Car at dealer...again.

Well, it's been a week since my local Ford dealer said they'd set aside the first rental that was returned and give me a call so I can drop my Focus off...again.

A week.

It's been almost as long since the woman from Ford Customer Care said she'd call for a "follow up".

Hasn't happened. Not that there's anything to follow up.

On the way home from work, it was pitching such a tizzy that I drove straight to the dealer and left in a rental.

You ever see that episode of Seinfeld where the valet stinks up his car so bad that he drives it to the "bad" part of town, gets out and tosses the keys into the seat? Yeah, that's about where I am with this car.

Brother, I am so sorry. Is it possible to cut your losses and trade it in?

Your peace of mind is certainly worth something at this point.

I'd give the FMC a chance to troubleshoot and repair this unit. So when the problem is found, then other FF owners can rest assured that it won't happen to theirs. Come on member, take one for the Giffer !
