Misfire goes to the Asylum

Took a ride to a former Asylum that is a few towns away. Built in the 1940's on 1,000+ acres, it was opened as a mental health treatment hospital. It also housed a State Police Barracks (seen in my photos with the radio tower in the background). The hospital closed in the 80's and turned into a Clinical School for mentally handicapped kids, a detention center for juvenile sexual offenders and a rehabilitation school for troubled kids. The property has been fully abandoned over the years (State Police moved out in 04) and the buildings are falling apart. While taking pics, a State Trooper saw me from the main road at the one building I was at and entered the property to tell me to leave. I do contract work for the State Police and when he recognized me, we wound up shooting the breeze for a few minutes before he let me go back to taking pics. Enjoy.

I've spent too long looking into the abyss. It's starting to look back.
