I couldn't agree more, if your going to put something like racing stripes on your car you might ass well nut up and do it right rather that having something that looks like ducktape on gloss paint.

j/k it looks fine, but you get my point, people are going to do what they wanna do and something that not permanent anyway is even better when it comes to stuff like this. Plus this stuff is dirt cheap compared to real paint (not talking about rattle can either)

As for the other stuff,

-Black Ford emblems: I don't think a random black splotch in the middle of your trunk or grill looks any better than a Ford emblem.
The painting over the emblem doesn't make sense to me, its kinda like when somebody uses grill mesh. It doesn't look bad, but it defiantly starts to have that cheap DIY feel to it.

-Anything involving Plasti-Dip "smoke": I don't see any actual change in color tone, it just makes the lenses look severely sun damaged. I still don't like tinted tail lights

-Aluminum interior accents: You're making a beautifully machined and finished piece of aluminum look like a cheap hunk of plastic.
Sometimes manufactures put a couple random pieces of aluminum, I've gone out of my way to get black plastic parts

-Black stock wheels: They lose their dimension and depth of design. This is the best way to make any alloy wheel look like a steelie with a missing cover. Winter protection, sometimes travel protection too. Also I love old school steelies in gloss black, I know thats not relevant.

-Black windows: It turns a piece of set glass that was thought out as part of the original design of the car into a chunk of ill-fitting, unpainted bumper plastic in the middle of your car. Is this a thing? What happened to tint?

-"Extensions" beyond the lower grille that don't follow a body line: This looks bootlegged and obvious.
I'm not sure what that is, The only thing i can think of is the "evo" look on the mk1.5 bumper which looks fine.

Maybe I'm an "elitist" or I feel I'm better than some of the people that overuse Plasti-Dip, but I guess I'd just rather see a car like mine than one that's basically stock but has several hours spent on it in the quest to interrupt or unnecessarily change the lines of the original design
.

Not all cars including focus came with painted ding guards as well as some other parts that should have been painted. From 00-04 the SVT was the ONLY package where they all came with painted trim pieces, which also include the rear hatch piece and mirrors. The rest (LX,SE,ZTS,ZTW,ZX3,ZX5) seem to be randomly painted, but most are just unpainted black. The 05-07 came painted for the most part. anything 08+ don't have these gaudy ding guard and instead have smoother lines.

So just to be clear a lot less than 15 years.

edit: to add something about plastic dip. I love those plati-dip paintjobs especially the custom colors.

Plastidip is fine as long as it is not over used on a car.

FYI, I hate my black wheels with polished lip, so I may pickup a few cans of anthracite to see if I want them colormatched or not, if I like the look, they will be painted.

Didn't think it would take this long, but it snowed, then he was gone, but today it melted and we were both home. It was super bright so hopefully this picture does it justice. SVT 5spokes + anthracite plati-dip+ 06 greyST

I'd go with gun metal, white rims can be cool, but that brake dust just makes them look worse if you can't keep up with it.

Metal? yes? Plastic dip will scratch, what are you thinking?

Brakes, no. they get hot. You need higher temp paint or powerder coat for brakes.

I've got a few cans of it to go on my SVT 5 spokes for summer. I like the a anthracite. Does this have gloss on top of it?

no gloss. Its more apparent IRL that its a flat color, but since it lays pretty even you don't really notice. I've heard that with glossier you have to be more careful like you would actually painting as dust will settle ect. and you can't buff out plasti-dip.
