Fun with PlastiDip!

I warmed the cans with water and that made a huge difference. I'm worried how it's going to look now because my first 2-3 coats the splatter was pretty bad. It has a light texture to it. I'm on my 4th or 5th coat now and I can still see the silver of my 18's. I'm doing white. I'm not going to get this done today anyhow. I started this morning after I washed the car. I jacked it up on blocks in the garage because I wanted to spray the wheels off. Good thing I have another car to drive tomorrow. If it ends up looking like crap I'll just power wash them and start over.

Even the black has a silverish tint in some lights while it is drying. 4 or 5 coats is alot, more than enough to cover. I did 2 coats both times on my wheels, covered fine.

I put two more coats on today and they were heavy. Not nearly as heavy as the initial 4-5. Maybe its just the white plastidip. Anyone have a close up pic of their white wheels they can share? There are areas where I sprayed heavy and I can still see the silver. This is more or less going to be a test of whether I like the look of white wheels on my car. I'll probably end up getting them powder coated.

Edit: I finally had a chance to put the wheels back on and I must say I really like the look of white wheels. I'll post pics when I can get it in some proper light.

It's no black fuel door, but I like to think it came out nice. I did the stripes on the E90, as well.

hey guys , i was wondering , has anyone gotten the sprayyer and stuff for dip . iv only ever used rattle cans , and im wondering if the quality is better with the sprayer. its not too expensive and i might grab it just to do my own dipping real good and be able to dip all my friends cars n stuff

When dry, does it have a glossy look or is it a flat look like the black plastidip?

I've not seen black plastidip in person so I can't say how it compares but the white is flat. Up close, I can still see some hints of the alloy. I'm also wondering how this stuff will clean up. There is no way I'm leaving this stuff on permanently. It looks too amateurish. I've sourced a local powder coater to make it look right.
