Spray a thick layer of plastidip right over the top of the affected area, let dry and the new will bond with the old, making removal easy

That's what I had to do on my hood...

it worked for me on the hood, theres pics in this thread of my daughter peeling it off and you can see some areas where i didn't even let the plastidip dry, so maybe leave it a lil tacky. If you saw my hood before you could see in the pics that it was uneven and light in some areas.

Goo Gone actually helped me out a bit. Just wiped off after a couple of sprays and a little elbow grease.
