I have been using the General Altimax Artic tires for years and they are amazing.

2005 ZX4 ST, Stock Alloys

After finding the prices of winter tires for my 17" ST 200s to be too much to bear, I've decided to put some on my 16" stockers. I'm also looking at making my first purchase from Tire Rack. :) Originally I was looking at Graspics, but afer seeing the survey results from the Winterforce I was leaning that way, but comfort and low road noise are important too me. I drive 48mi each way to work and back every day. I loved my Conti DWS's for the snow / ride / low noise but I only got 25k of the 50k quoted treadlife. Then I read the test results on Tirerack and decided on the General Altimax. The only problem is that they're only available in a 55 series for the 16". I am lowered on the Saleen/Racecraft/Eibach setup, should I have any rubbing problems with the increase in sidewall? IIRC it's about a 1.25 - 1.5" drop. If no issues, I'll probably order Monday morning.

Thanks!

Tires only or winter package: Tires and wheels

The car has the stock 17's on it. For winter tires, I would rather have 15" wheels for a wider sidewall. If you could please tell me what size tires with the smaller rim are equivalent to the stock tire size, albeit not as wide. Also wondering what tire works best on hardpack/ice as once the snow falls, you can't see the road until May.

I also went with 195 65 15'S on my wifes SEL with no issues. As well was told I had to have TPM's installed as they were a standard safety feature for the car ;-0

Will 205/55/R16 tires fot my 09 Focus?

I have tires that are 205/55/R16 and I was wondering if they would fit properly on my 09 Ford Focus? Also if they do what size of steel rims should I get? Thanks

I just got some new Hankook I*cept winter tires and wheels for my STI;dropped from 245/40/18s down to 215/50/17s and definetly alot less dry grip but am ready for some mountain driving up to the ski resorts.
