locked keys in focus

so i locked my keys i my focus and left the ignition on the accessories. i have no spare key and keyless remote was dead. i got a lock out kit from my fire dept and usd the wedge and screwdriver to get the top of my door out far enough to get a coat hanger in the door and pressed the on the power window buttons until i got the window to roll down. so i am going to have spare key made now. saved my self 50 bucks on a locksmith

Since you only have one key its going to cost like 150 bucks. I went down to see if i could get one made and turns out they all have chips in the key to let it start. If you have two keys you can program the new key which will cost like 25 bucks but if you only have one key you need to schedule and appointment. They need to program the new key to the ECU. so it will let your car start. they guy i talked to said around 150 bucks most likely to get this all done.

I'm fairly certain you can just buy replacements on ebay and program them yourself. I've seen a how-to somewhere telling you how to program them to your car.

You can also have a replacement key cut without a chip. It will not be able to start you car but it will still open the doors and run your accessories.

That's why I make it a point of getting a car with the built-in keyless entry keypad, or if it doesn't have it, then purchase it through Ford Accessories.

Thats what i thought. I even asked the Ford master mechanic i work with and he said if you dont have two keys already you gotta go through a whole bunch of shit to program a 2nd key. Takes like an hour.

My brother works at a parts place and they have a key machine. He looked at my key and thought it looked like those older Ford keys like for an older 90s F150

So i let him try it and he cut me 2 keys. They dont have the FOB but i paid $2. and i keep 1 at home and one in my wallet incase i lock mine in the car.

My mom found a ford set somewhere it had a remote and a key on it with a FOB key but it didnt fit any of our cars. Not sure where it came from. I programmed the car to work with this extra remote.

So now i have 3 keys, 1 has the FOB and 2 remotes.
