I think Ford is pretending not to know. If I were you though, I'd do what I did and call Ford Canada/US to document whatever issue you have. My Titanium had two spots where I believe either the paint bubbled and chipped off when it dried and was like that on delivery at the dealer (this was a factory order). Dealer says they'll repaint it and Ford Canada says that whatever the dealer decides is what they'll go with as the solution.
Definitely something to do with the new paint process (I think I saw in a commercial that they apply 2 of the coats before letting it dry or something like that?). I already have 2 chips on the front (didn't get a chance to put the clear bra on yet!!!) so I put 2 coats of wax on the hood for now (will have to do the same to the front bumper) - not sure how much protection it will afford me. I ordered in the touch-up paint but have to wait 2 wks (folks at the dealership didn't even have the replacement Red Candy metallic RZ paint code in their system and had to get advisement from Ford Parts to find out what to order). |

I have a light spot in the middle of the hood when the light hits it at a certain angle, or if I look at it from a certain angle.
A little bit of orange peel elsewhere, but nothing else yet. I'm going to talk to Ford about the light spot in the hood. |

I advise you take it to your dealership to get it fixed. |

My Sterling Grey sedan has two dirt specks also. One of which was touched with sandpaper and then shipped. I could understand missing dirt nibs, but shotty attempts at repair is just poor workmanship.

Orange peel has been around for years. Gone are the days of pristine auto paint jobs.
Rock chips have been a part of every new vehicle I've purchased since 1992. There's a lot of crap on the highway, and traffic to stir-it-up. I come back from Dallas several times a year with new paint damage.

The paint shop at Michigan asssembly was just reworked all new robots were put in. I'm sure if you got an early car they were still working on film builds.
I can check with some guys at the plant but the Basecoat is probably Water base but the clearcoat is solvent based. Mine is going to be painted 1/9/12 and I was going to the plant to watch it be painted but I will be on the road. I can find out who the paint supplier is PPG... Dupont... They all do durability testing its probably more the paint than the application It serious chemistry nowadays It could be as deep as the E-coat where the problem is Good luck |

Do you know when the paint dept was updated? My car was finished 8/8....I believe about a week after the summer shutdown. What is the E-coat? After reading other posts, it looks like others have more serious paint issues than me. My complaint is that the "orange peel" effect seems more pronounced than one would expect. Paint application seems even but under certain lighting the orange peel effect is very strong. Was planning to make a formal complaint when I take the car in for the first scheduled service. Thanks for any additional info you might be able to share.

Mine looks good so far. 1800 Miles on her. I did have paint protection done but isn't that just a good wax/seal job?
