use 2k grit paper and wet sand it by hand, you want to be thorough and even.
For a polisher you want something like THIS, a variable speed buffer. You DON'T want an orbital like they sell at walmart & autozone, those things are crap and all they're good for is removing wax.
I start with 3M super duty rubbing compound and finish with 3M medium polishing glaze. You'll need two separate polishing pads, one for each step. I use foam pads for both, they're harder to burn through the clear with than a wool pad.
You'll want a plain white pad for the rubbing compound and a black waffle foam pad for the medium glaze.
HERE'S a quick tutorial for ya.
Any questions lemme know!

Oh one more thing to add - you need to let the paint cure for at least 24hrs after painting so it's not still tacky when you go to sand it

lol one more tip - while you're polishing the pad can get gunked up, so when that happens flip the buffer upside down, turn it on, and with light to medium pressure press the side of a closed end wrench down on it and move from the inside of the pad to the outside and back a couple times. Hold the wrench like a pizza cutter wheel except move it left and right instead of up and down. Make sense? The gunk will fly right off
